Mark 11:1-11, 15-19, 27-12:12

JERUSALEM:

  • site of the Passover celebration
  • site of the Father’s house
  • site of the opposition’s headquarters
  • site of the mission’s fulfillment

1. PARADE. 11:1-11

    • Why such a grand entrance?
    • Why enter, riding a colt? Zechariah 9:9
    • What might Jesus have been thinking, as He entered Jerusalem?
    • What might the religious leaders have been thinking about this?

2. PASSION. 11:15-19

    • Anger
    • Zeal Psalm 69:9
    • Boldness
    • Response (by the religious leaders)

3. PARABLE. 11:27-12:12

    • The religious leaders are embarrassed by Jesus’ response to their challenge.
    • – The religious leaders are presented as the villains in Jesus’ story.
