Introduction

Salvation can come to those whom we least expect, when we least expect. It is probable that no matter how serious or committed we become in our evangelism, we will encounter individuals who see beyond saving. Whether it be because of their refusal to hear the gospel, their inability to comprehend the gospel, or their lack of interest in the gospel, individuals like these can discourage even the most zealous evangelists. Many have retired from evangelizing altogether because of the callousness of those whom they have attempted to witness to. But if we are going to establish a culture of evangelism that goes beyond revival services and knocking on doors during set seasons on the calendar then we must be able to develop a confidence in what we are doing and who we are doing it for that will inspire us to never quit. Without this type of resolve it would be very easy to give up on evangelism, and many churches have done so especially in light of the declining spiritual condition of our world. The conversion of Saul is gives us this confidence by showing us that because of the sovereign grace of God no one is beyond saving. The Lord can reach the ones we can’t.
It is ironic that this account of Saul’s conversion from a literary perspective is placed right behind the story of the Ethiopian Eunuch. We have two polar examples of what evangelism could look like in the real world. In the first we have the Eunuch Who
