Proverbs 4:1–5 NKJV
1 Hear, my children, the instruction of a father, And give attention to know understanding; 2 For I give you good doctrine: Do not forsake my law. 3 When I was my father’s son, Tender and the only one in the sight of my mother, 4 He also taught me, and said to me: “Let your heart retain my words; Keep my commands, and live. 5 Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
The scripture tells us to get wisdom

What is Wisdom

Wisdom is the ability to Judge what is true, right or lasting.
Wisdom is basically the ability to apply knowledge or experience or understanding or common sense and insight in a correct manner.
Knowledge is related to wisdom but it is not wisdom.
Knowledge is information, you can have knowledge but lack wisdom. One can be knowledgeable without being wise. However, you cannot have knowledge without wisdom.
examples to differentiates between knowledge and wisdom
Knowledge is knowing how to use a gun; wisdom is knowing when to use it and when not to use it.
Knowledge understands the light has turned red; wisdom applies the brakes
Knowledge sees the quicksand; wisdom walks around it

How do we get wisdom

It all comes from God, but is given in three ways
1. Laying on of the hands
Deuteronomy 34:9 NKJV
9 Now Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him; so the children of Israel heeded him, and did as the Lord had commanded Moses.
We see that when Moses layed hands on Joshua, he was filled with the spirit of wisdom.
2. Reading God’s Word
2 Timothy 3:14–15 NKJV
14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
By just being acquainted with scripture gives you wisdom.
Colossians 4:5 NKJV
5 Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time.
3. Asking God
James 1:5–8 NKJV
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
This is something we must do everyday.
A good example of this is Solomon

Why do we need Wisdom

Wisdom is the principle thing.
Proverbs 4:5–9 NKJV
5 Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. 6 Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you. 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. 8 Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor, when you embrace her. 9 She will place on your head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory she will deliver to you.”
The legs and hands (symbolic of stregth) and the Heart (symbolic of virtue ) is useless without the mind.
The mind give direction on how and best way to use the stregth and apply virtue. So Wisdom is the principle thing.
Ecclesiastes 9:13–18 NKJV
13 This wisdom I have also seen under the sun, and it seemed great to me: 14 There was a little city with few men in it; and a great king came against it, besieged it, and built great snares around it. 15 Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city. Yet no one remembered that same poor man. 16 Then I said: “Wisdom is better than strength. Nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, And his words are not heard. 17 Words of the wise, spoken quietly, should be heard Rather than the shout of a ruler of fools. 18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war; But one sinner destroys much good.”
They are people who are full of strength, but because of there lack of wisdom they stregth destroys them like Samson.
There are people who are lovely, and innocent but because they lack wisdom they destroy themselves.
Ecclesiastes 10:10 NKJV
10 If the ax is dull, And one does not sharpen the edge, Then he must use more strength; But wisdom brings success.
Proverbs 8:10–21 NKJV
10 Receive my instruction, and not silver, And knowledge rather than choice gold; 11 For wisdom is better than rubies, And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her. 12 “I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, And find out knowledge and discretion. 13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate. 14 Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom; I am understanding, I have strength. 15 By me kings reign, And rulers decree justice. 16 By me princes rule, and nobles, All the judges of the earth. 17 I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me. 18 Riches and honor are with me, Enduring riches and righteousness. 19 My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold, And my revenue than choice silver. 20 I traverse the way of righteousness, In the midst of the paths of justice, 21 That I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth, That I may fill their treasuries.
Wisdom will give will make you prudent and helo you discern knowledge and discretion.
Wisdom will enable and empower one to rule
Wisdom will give one, enduring riches and righteousness
The fruit of wisdom is better than fine gold, and its revenue better thank Gold.
Wisdom will fill your treasures.
Proverbs 8:22–36 NKJV
22 “The Lord possessed me at the beginning of His way, Before His works of old. 23 I have been established from everlasting, From the beginning, before there was ever an earth. 24 When there were no depths I was brought forth, When there were no fountains abounding with water. 25 Before the mountains were settled, Before the hills, I was brought forth; 26 While as yet He had not made the earth or the fields, Or the primal dust of the world. 27 When He prepared the heavens, I was there, When He drew a circle on the face of the deep, 28 When He established the clouds above, When He strengthened the fountains of the deep, 29 When He assigned to the sea its limit, So that the waters would not transgress His command, When He marked out the foundations of the earth, 30 Then I was beside Him as a master craftsman; And I was daily His delight, Rejoicing always before Him, 31 Rejoicing in His inhabited world, And my delight was with the sons of men. 32 “Now therefore, listen to me, my children, For blessed are those who keep my ways. 33 Hear instruction and be wise, And do not disdain it. 34 Blessed is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors. 35 For whoever finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the Lord; 36 But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul; All those who hate me love death.”
God created and establish his creation with wisdom.
Proverbs 3:19 NKJV
19 The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding He established the heavens;

“redeeming the time”, each minutes that you interact with them is an opportunity to sow the seed of the word of God in their life. Don’t waste it by talking vanity and worthless things.
“let your speech always be with grace, season with salt”. This is means that our speach must always be spiritual in nature, a speach that brings life to the hearers and ministers grace.
