Holy Communion

A feast to enjoy with discernment

Welcome and announcements

Doxology            Hymn 91 verse 1: “Come now almighty King”

Call to worship and Greeting

We will praise you, O LORD, with all our heart; before the “gods” we will sing your praise. We will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.

Hymn no 25:        “Great is Your faithfulness”

Prayer of adoration

Father, God in heaven, we will exalt you, our God and King. We will praise your name forever and ever. Every day we will praise you and worship your name into all eternity.

You are great and most worthy of praise. Your greatness no one can fathom.

One generation will tell of your works to another; they will tell of your mighty deeds. They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty, and we will meditate on your wonderful works. They will tell of the power of your awesome works, and we will proclaim your great deeds. They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.  Yes God, you are gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. You are good to all; You have compassion on all You have made. All you have made will praise you, O LORD; your saints will worship you. Amen.

Hymn no 39:                      “Eternal Light, eternal light”

Confession of sins

Father in heaven, aware of our sins we cry to you, O LORD. O Lord, hear our voice. Let your ears be attentive to our cry for mercy.

If you, O LORD, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness; therefore you are feared.  We wait for You our Father. Our soul waits, and in Your wordweI put our hope. Our soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning.

Father, teach us to put our hope in the You, for with the You is unfailing love and with You is full redemption. Our God, In Jesus Christ and through his blood shed for our righteousness before You, will redeem Israel from all their sins. We pray before You: forgive us and cleanse us.  In Jesus’ Name.  Amen.

Hymn no 498:                     “Lord from the depths I cry to you”

Declaration of pardoning

Since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.  For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are — yet was without sin.  Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
