Intro:
Many people have hated me for my stance on Scripture. I am just hard headed enough not to bend or budge on what the Word plainly says. I do not waiver because of the changing of times, perhaps this is a gift and a curse, being this stubborn. However, when it comes to the Word of God it is definitely a gift. No matter how much pain it causes my flesh, my spirit rejoices in being with the Lord and what His will is. I have lost friends, lost people in the Church, lost relationships over my stance, but Jesus said unless I am willing to hate my father and mother, brother and sister, yes even my own life I cannot follow Him. I have to be willing to forsake the comfortable for the eternal. I believe this is what Paul is saying in Rom 1 when he begins his letter to them and he says:
Romans 1:13–16 NIV
I do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, that I planned many times to come to you (but have been prevented from doing so until now) in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles. I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome. For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
Prayer
The Word of God is powerful, it is a double edged sword, it can change lives, do we believe that? In my own life I have seen it heal the wounded, lift the down trodden and even change people’s minds and by today’s society that is a powerful Word. That is why I must deliver it with the authority and power that it has to change lives. And in doing that I must give the full Truth of the Word and because we have been talking about identity I would be culpable of sin if I did not talk on how human sexuality beginning with what He says in Genesis 1:26-28.

Created Them

Genesis 1:26–28 NIV
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Genesis 3:18–19 NIV
It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”

But why

Genesis 2:18–24 NIV
The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals. But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

c. Anything else goes against His created order

Our brokenness

Romans 1:24–25 NIV
Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
A. Need to become one with God’s will
Ephesians 4:17–23 NIV
So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed. That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds;
1. Jesus reiterated this when talking about marriage
Mark 10:6 NIV
“But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’

i. It is a battle
ii. Not always easy
iii. That’s why grace is available
Romans 5:20–6:3 NIV
The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
2. In grace we find change possible
a. To transition our identity into Him
b. To be what He created me to be
3. We exist as the Church to love
a. God called the broken
Luke 5:31–32 NIV
Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
b. Not here to beat people up
c. To encourage them to be loved
i. In there brokenness
ii. Out of their brokenness
d. Not all instantaneous
i. Takes time to be transformed, but it happens through the Word
Romans 12:2 NIV
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Conclusion:
That’s where it all starts, God is not calling us into instantaneous perfection, what then would be the purpose of grace or repentance. No instead He calls us into a relationship, where we grow out of the image of the world and into the image He created, male and female He created them. Not for man’s glory but for the glory of God.
