The Magi are looking for a ruler

Jerusalem - the main trade city and Jewish capital

Probably a large entourage and a lot of fanfare

They were coming to worship the king

The Unexpected Ending vs9-11

Bethlehem - no special town - a small town

No royal family or entourage - Mary & Joseph

No palace - a house

The response did not change

the Magi bowed down and worshiped Jesus

the Magi presented Jesus with gifts

Concl. - Reacting to the unexpected ending
