“a trip of wooly mammoth proportions”
Genesis 6:9-7:5
introduction
Illus. of all the work relocating a family.
So many details, sometimes you wonder on whether it is worth it or not.
The same is true with missions trips that churches take.
They take a lot of work, planning, preparation, and finances.
It is worth it?
We know that it is, but sometimes it seems as though the prior work is too much to make it worthwhile.
If you think you have experienced big preparations, you haven’t seen anything yet.
Tonight, we are going to look at a trip of mammoth proportions.
As a matter of fact it is a trip of wooly mammoth proportions.
OPEN to passage.
*Prop.
*In this passage, we learn from Noah how to handle major life changes.
Open in PRAYER.

Cf. 6:1-8 to get the context.
Noah’s life was about to change and he was going to take a trip of wooly mammoth proportions.
What do we do when faced with major changes in life?

But, Noah was different than many that had come before him.
V 9b    2.
He was a just man.
He was “perfect.”
This means he was a man of integrity.
He was a man who could be trusted.
Much different than the immoral men that were predominant on the earth at that point in time.
He was a man who walked with God.
He was obedient to God’s commands and served Him in all that he did.
He was not self-centered but God-centered in all that he did.
V 10    3.
Noah raised three sons that were worthy of being saved from the moral judgment that was about to come upon God’s creation.
Noah made himself and his family ready to call when God called by walking with God.
We will not hear the call of God if we are not walking with God and obeying His Word.
This made Noah different from the world.

This seems like a harsh judgment, but God is willing to do what is necessary to bring holiness to the world.
We can find encouragement here because good will win out over evil.
God is sovereign over creation and His will must be done.
He makes distinctions between the righteous and the unrighteous.
How are we made righteous today?
GOSPEL There will be a separation between the saved and the unsaved for all eternity.
