The Groundwork of Faith-Living

Zechariah 4:6 says, “Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.”

Might = physical power ; Strength = influence, mental qualities, intelligence, wealth, authority (office)

2 Corinthians 10:4 says, “(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;)”

What is faith?  Hebrews 11:1 defines it like this…

“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”

Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary words it like this…

1     a      allegiance to duty or a person loyalty

                         b     (1) fidelity to one’s promises

                                 (2) sincerity of intentions

2     a     (1) belief and trust in and loyalty to God

                               (2) belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion

b     (1) firm belief in something for which there is no proof

                                 (2) complete trust

3          something that is believed, esp. with strong convictions, esp. a system of religious beliefs:    without question

Faith led Abraham up the mountain to sacrifice Isaac.

Faith allowed mockery to come from Elijah’s mouth as he prepared to sacrifice to God.

Faith brought out Peter’s first foot onto the water, then the second.

Faith soothed Jesus’ spirit as his body was beaten and crucified.

Faith was the incentive for the beginning works of Noah’s ark.

Faith changed an entire life on the road to Damascus.

Faith pulled 12 disciples from their employments to follow Christ.

A Centurion’s faith brought healing to his servant’s paralyzed and suffering body.

Faith healed the lady who touched the hem of Jesus’ garment.

The faith of a Syrophoenician Woman answered Jesus humbly and saw her demon-possessed daughter delivered.

You see, the scripture that defines what you will receive by faith is found in Matthew 9:29, when Jesus, talking to two soon not to be blind men, told them “According to your faith will it be done to you."

Philippians 4:19 makes this promise, “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus”, but he also promises this in Mark 11:24 “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”

It’s all a matter of staying in line with the Word of God, and seeking his will in your life.
