Part 3: When Jesus Conquers

John 20:19-31

1.) He brings peace.

• John 20:19, “Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you!’”
• Shalom: peace, wholeness, completeness, serenity, and harmony.
• Colossians 1:19-22, “For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. This includes you who were once far away from God…”
• Romans 5:1-18, “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ…”

2.) He brings purpose.

• John 20:21, “…As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”
• Colossians 1:15-16, “Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation… Everything was created through him and for him” (NLT).
• Ephesians 2:10, “…we are God's masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

3.) He brings a promise.

• John 20:31, “…these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”
• John 10:10, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (NKJV).
• Romans 10:9, “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
