! Beginnings
As we begin this new journey together, I feel it important to bring things back to the source…the root of where we need to be.
Do I doubt for one minute that God has orchestrated this whole ordeal?
No way!!!
But I do see a church world that has been invaded unaware by the world and all of the devices that the enemy can muster up.
I read that without holiness, no one has any chance of seeing the Lord, yet our lives reflect our humanity and our attempts to straddle the fence of spiritual life.
I have the urge to jump in with both feet and begin the dirty work of ministry in Springfield, yet I know that there is something that we must do as we prepare for the task at hand.
!! Psalm 119:130-133
The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.
I open my mouth and pant, longing for your commands.
Turn to me and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name.
Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me.
When God opens his mouth and speaks to us, it brings revelation to us in ways that could not accomplished in any other way.
I feel compelled as we begin this time, that we get back on our knees and in our prayer closets and seek God’s face and his will for this church, this community, this area.
*2 Chronicles 7:14*
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Too many people in this day and time call themselves Christian, claim a personal relationship with God, and attempt surface knowledge of the Bible, yet we know that many are not as their self-given titles announce.
But God is very clear in his word.
When we become a Christian, the Holy Spirit comes to live inside of us and serves as a reminder to whom we belong.
The devil cannot possess one who is blood-bought.
And our lives become living examples, fruit-bearing nourishment for a lost and dying world.
To humble ourselves brings us to a mindset that we are not equal to or to be compared with God.
We come to him because we are helpless and in need of his mercy and love and compassion.
Pride, after all, is nothing less or more than believing falsely that we are of great importance or worth.
The fact is that we are nothing without God, and yet, with him, we are absolutely invaluable.
To pray is to talk with God and to make a humble request from someone in immeasurably greater importance.
Seeking his face, in opposition to seeking his hand, brings the thought of personal relationship and intimacy.
Turning from our wicked ways does not give way to humanity; does not leave room for excuse; and opens up life without remorse in us.
Then he will hear us.
All that children want is for their parents approval and attention.
Justin and David will repeat themselves to no end if we don’t acknowledge that they have spoken or made a request.
It’s not repetition; it’s not monotony; it’s sheer determination that they be heard and their need met.
Matthew 6:7 tells us not to find ourselves in vain repetition (KJV), or continuous babblings (NIV), but we are to approach God as we would a judge here in a court room, or if we were at the White House with the president.
Our words should be direct and true without partiality, after all, doesn’t God already know what is in our hearts?
Then he will forgive sin.
The greatest miracle ever… Sin cannot enter heaven or be in his presence.
Sin separates us from life as God intended it ( the Garden of Eden).
Sin takes our eyes off of Creator God, and places them on creation, man.
We want forgiveness!!!
Then he will heal the land.
What is your land?
This month is about getting in contact with God, and seeking his direction for this church.
We are going to focus, in one way or another, on seeking God’s face in this month.
The last week of October, the week of the 21st, we are going to dedicate as a week of fasting for the entire church.
It’s time for a new beginning at Calvary Worship Center, and in Springfield, LA.
