The book covers my journey in ministry for the past 15 years.
How Jesus helped me to refocus my ministry potential and longevity.
What it was like serving with depression and anxiety.
It is available at Amazon Australia, USA and other countries around the world.
Subject:
1. Where does Doubt come from?
In the book Pilgrim’s Progress, John Bunyan describes a particular castle that is called ‘Doubt Castle’. The one that lives within is called Giant Despair.
Doubt is one of the big crushes of ministry and of life.
James 1:5–8 NKJV
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Many times in my ministry I doubted my self and I doubted God.
When you doubt you are lacking faith.
Doubt is a trap that the enemy sets up in the hopes that he snares us.
1 Peter 5:6–8 NKJV
6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
The reason we doubt is because we do not trust God, nor do we trust ourselves, nor other people.
Why do we doubt God? We doubt God because we believe the lies.
2. Why do we believe the lies connected to the doubt?
“A lie is like a snowball: the further you roll it the bigger it becomes.” - Martin Luther
The Devil seeks only to detach you from your relationship with Jesus Christ.
If he crushes your trust in God, he pretty much crushes any potential in your ministry.
There is a lie that the Devil threw at me that I bought hook, line and sinker.
That lie was this, “I do not really need to have a relationship with Jesus because Im a christian now or because Im a pastor.
The truth is, I was guilty of building God’s church my way and without needing Him to help.
Ministry is absolute dependence in Christ if we seek to have blessed ministries.
3. How do we move past doubt and serve in freedom?
John 15:1–5 NKJV
1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
Fellowship with Jesus is the only productive way that sees Him build His church.
Conclusion
I know right now, some of you are questioning why you are persisting in the current environment you are in.
Maybe you have people pushing you and expecting from you big things.
I have come to learn that I cannot build a church only God can.
I trust God to do what is best even though I seem to keep second guessing him.
