A Catholic priest announces at church one day, “I will be in Rome next week. If any of you have a wish, I will light a candle in Rome so that the wish will come true.” A woman announces, “My husband and I have been married for several years, but have never had any children. Can you light a candle so that we can have children?” He cheerfully replies, “I will do that.” Five years later, the woman says to the priest. “Since you went to Rome and lit that candle, I have given birth to two pairs of twins and a set of triplets, and now I am pregnant with quadruplets!” She then gives the priest a plane ticket to Rome. “You are too kind,” says the priest. “You don’t need to thank me.” “I’m not thanking you,” says the woman. “I just want you to blow out that candle.”

Today is Palm Sunday and in today’s passage Jesus passion week begins with his Triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Crowds have gathered in the Holy City for the Celebration of the Passover. Jesus has commissioned two of his disciples to obtain a donkey and a colt on which he will ride into town. As he does people begin to throw palm branches and their coats into the street and sing is praises. There is such a stir we read this in verse 10.
10 And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?
All the city is asking, “Who is this?” It is a question Jesus himself asked his disciples just a few chapters before. Jesus says, “Who do men say that I am?” Then he brings the topic, even closer when asks them, “Who do you say that I am?’
The multitude worshipping Jesus says, “ This is Jesus, the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee. They think that they get it, but really they don’t understand.
This question isn’t just for Biblical Times, it is a question that should be asked and answered right now. Our Scripture memory verse this week is Matthew 21:9
9 And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.
In this verse we find the answer to our question.
The date of Jesus entry into Jerusalem was Sunday, 9 Nisan, A.D. 30. Exactly 483 years after the decree of Artaxerxes mentioned in Daniel 9:24-26. The 69th week of Daniel’s prediction as complete. It marks the completion of the 69th week prophesied and ushers in the church age which makes up the 70th week. Today as we study this passage we will learn 3 ways to answer the question, “Who is this?”

Son of David. 17 verses in the New Testament refer to Jesus as the Son of David.
12 And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever. 14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men: 15 But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee. 16 And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever. 17 According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
30 And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.

21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Hosanna -Transliteration of a Hebrew word. It means “Save Us Now.”
25 Save now, I beseech thee, O Lord:
O Lord, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

This week, in 2021 We should ask and answer this question.
If you have never placed your faith and trust in Jesus you should ask this question, because the answer could mean the difference between heaven and hell.
You say Pastor, I am already a Christian. Then you also should ask and answer this question, because the answer will determine how you live, it will impact your family, this church, our community and the world.
