The Proclamation of a Faithful Servant

It was the word used by a servant when the task he had been given.
Jesus, praying to the Father announced the completion of his earthly ministry:
John 17:4 ESV
4 I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.

The Precise Fulfillment of Scripture

It was a word spoken by an artist when the picture was complete.
Jesus precisely fulfilled the OT prophecies of his death.
(17-18) Between two thieves
Isaiah 53:12 ESV
12 Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors.
(19-22) The declaration of his royalty
Zechariah 9:9 ESV
9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
(23-24) The dividing of his robe
Psalm 22:18 ESV
18 they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots.
(28-29) His drink
Psalm 69:21 ESV
21 They gave me poison for food, and for my thirst they gave me sour wine to drink.
(31-36) His body pierced and unbroken
Exodus 12:46 ESV
46 It shall be eaten in one house; you shall not take any of the flesh outside the house, and you shall not break any of its bones.
Zechariah 12:10 ESV
10 “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn.

Jesus is the Perfect Final Sacrifice

Jesus did not say, “I am finished.” No this was a pronouncement in the third person - “It is finished.”
The sacrifice of Jesus is perfect, cleansing within.
Hebrews 9:13–14 ESV
13 For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
The sacrifice of Jesus is permanent, securing forever.
Hebrews 10:3–4 ESV
3 But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. 4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
Hebrews 10:12–14 ESV
12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. 14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.
D.L. Moody riding in engine with a train conductor who believed in faith plus his effort. Moody said, “I’ll tell you the difference between your plan of salvation the Bible way. They I spell salvation and the way you spell it. You spell it D-O! I spell it D-O-N-E!
