We will be in Mark chapter 5 this morning. If you have your bible go head and turn there or you can follow along on the screen in a few minutes.
Before we look at today verses. I have a question for you. So think for a moment....

Have you ever done something thrilling?

Like sky diving, buggy jumping, riding a roller coaster.
How did this trilling event make you feel? Where your heart raising?
I have never been sky diving, or buggy jumping but I do like a good roller coaster. I love the feeling you get when going around a corner at height rate of speed. The anticipation that you feel has you are striped in the car and then start your journey up the climb to the top of the ride.
what about you?
Sometime when we start follower Christ it can be thrilling too. God can call you to a far away land. Were you do not know how to speak the language. He you send you to a place were you might be killed for what your are doing. So some are afraid of this thrill that might come. But you see. Jesus tell us most of the time that we should be spending his love right were we are. We do not have to move to spend the light of Christ. We do not have to go to a far off land to find people that need him.
this morning we are going to look at a men that want to thrill of following Jesus. He want to set under Jesus. Learn from Jesus. Travel with Jesus. do everything for Jesus because of what Jesus did for him.
So, Join me has i read
Mark 5:18–20 CSB
18 As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged him earnestly that he might remain with him. 19 Jesus did not let him but told him, “Go home to your own people, and report to them how much the Lord has done for you and how he has had mercy on you.” 20 So he went out and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and they were all amazed.
We can learn three different thing for what Jesus told this man to do. We will be looking at all three in just a minute. But first,

Who was this demon-possessed man?

Why was this man wanting to go with Jesus? Why would Jesus not let him go?
In Mark 5, we read the story of Jesus and his disciples traveling by boat to a region called Gerasenes. As soon as they got out of their boat, a demon possessed man greeted them. This person, who lived isolated among the tombs, had been in bondage and torment for years.
He possessed such an incredible strength that no person could keep him in shackles. He would simply break the chains in pieces. Throughout the day and night, he walked about the tombs and mountains, crying out and cutting himself because of the anguish he was always in (Mark 5:1–5).
2. When the man saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. “And crying out with a loud voice, he said, ‘What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.’ For he was saying to him, ‘Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!’ And Jesus asked him, ‘What is your name?’ He replied, ‘My name is Legion, for we are many.’ And he begged him earnestly not to send them out of the country. Now a great herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, and they begged him, saying, ‘Send us to the pigs; let us enter them’”(Mark 5:7–12).
3. After the demons departed from the man, they entered a herd of pigs nearby. The demons then made the pigs run down the hill and into the sea where they drowned (Mark 5:10–13). Afterward, Mark tells us that the man was “clothed and in his right mind” (v. 15). As Jesus was about to depart, the man begged Jesus to let him go with him. But Jesus did not grant him his request. Instead, Jesus gave him another direction: “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you” (v. 19). Mark then concludes the story by informing us that the man obeyed Jesus and that “he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled” (v. 20).
The newly delivered man wanted to follow Jesus by sticking close to him, but Jesus wanted the man to follow him by returning home to be his disciple and witness there.
Sometimes we want Jesus to call us to exciting adventures, to follow him on amazing missions. Sometimes he does, but sometimes he calls us to follow him in the “normal.” God’s purpose is always that we would image and represent him wherever we are, even in the ordinary routines of life: our homes, schools, work, communities, and organizations.Tell your friends
How do we live as witnesses.

You have to be faithful and obedient follower of Jesus

what ever Jesus tell us to do. You and I have to do it in faith.
In the usual course of our lives—from getting ready in the mornings to working, going to school, eating meals, or socializing with others— we are to glorify God in all things.
Colossians 3:17 CSB
17 And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
In the usual course of our lives—from getting ready in the mornings to working, going to school, eating meals, or socializing with others— we are to glorify God in all things.

Let your life be evidence for Jesus

Your life can and will show fruit that you are follow Christ. Other around you will see that you act different. That you do not get angry easy.

Tell your family and friends about Jesus

Tell anyone and everyone about what Jesus has done for you. We each have a story to tell and we can tell other about that that story. Even if you think that your story want affect someone it can and will when we let God be God.
God has done an incredible work in all of our lives. As we live relationally with others, we can share our stories with them. We tell them our story and the story of Jesus.
Mark 5:20 CSB
20 So he went out and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and they were all amazed.

Let your lives be evidence to the power of God

we are to let the fruit of our transformed lives be a blessing to others. Jesus wanted other people who knew of the man to see how God had shown mercy to him and changed his life. His family, friends, and neighbors all knew his previous story of being tormented and in bondage. But now they would see the new chapter of his life and the evidence of the power of God at work in him.

Jesus calls you to follow him in the ordinary situations of life

The calling of Jesus is an exciting journey, but that does not mean every moment of following him results in a thrilling adventure. Most of the time, Jesus calls us to follow him in the ordinary situations of life.
We learn to follow Jesus in the ordinary by being faithful and obedient in whatever we do, by testifying to others about the work of God in our lives, and by letting the fruit of our transformed lives be a blessing to others.
