1. To give DEVOTION to God

Psalm 29:2 KJV 1900
Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

2. To get DIRECTION from God

How do I study the Bible?

A. Observing the Text

Who is the author of the text?

To who or to whom was the text written?

Are there any repetitions (words, phrases)?

What was the situation or occasion?

When did it occur?

What historical or cultural factors might have a bearing on understanding the passage?

What is he (the author) talking about? (subject)

What is he (the author) saying about what he’s talking about? (complement)
