Matthew 4:1–11 NKJV
1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. 3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” 4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ” 5 Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ” 7 Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ ” 8 Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” 10 Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ” 11 Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

From Last Week:

Genesis 3:1 NKJV
1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

Pre Sermon:

Matthew 4:1 NKJV
1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
Mark 1:12 NKJV
12 Immediately the Spirit drove Him into the wilderness.
Hyper Charismatic people think that life on earth in Christ is supposed to be easy.
Matthew 4:1 says the spirit of God led Jesus into the wilderness.
Mark 1:12 the spirit drove Him into the wilderness.
when we talk about the spiritual warfare we need to understand that we are going grow up in Christ.
We do not learn as we do.
if we are going to mighty in God we are going to have to deal with some trouble.
the spirit can lead you into the wilderness so that you have a testimony.
in order to deal with the deep things of God we are going to have to build your faith and understanding.
1 Samuel 17:34–37 NKJV
34 But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, 35 I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. 36 Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.” 37 Moreover David said, “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you!”
if God never leads you in some places, you will never grow.
there are things in the spirit you will never know if you don’t walk in it.

Notice how Jesus battles satan… with the truth!

Ephesians 6:17 NKJV
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
the word of God is both offensive and surgical.
it is offensive in the sense that we battle the devil with the word of truth.
it is surgical in the sense that it discerns the motive of the heart.

notice that Jesus said it is written.
