I.                   Introduction:  Psalms 90, A prayer of Moses- The Man of God
1Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.
2 Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.
3 You turn man to destruction, And say, "Return, O children of men."
4 For a thousand years in Your sight Are like yesterday when it is past, And like a watch in the night.
5 You carry them away like a flood; They are like a sleep.
In the morning they are like grass which grows up:
6 In the morning it flourishes and grows up; In the evening it is cut down and withers.
7 ¶ For we have been consumed by Your anger, And by Your wrath we are terrified.
8 You have set our iniquities before You, Our secret sins in the light of Your countenance.
9 For all our days have passed away in Your wrath; We finish our years like a sigh.
10 The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
11 Who knows the power of Your anger?
For as the fear of You, so is Your wrath.
This is what I have not taught you so far:
1. God is all powerful, all knowing and ever present.
2. Humanity is frail and fallible
3. A good age for us to live is about 70 to 80 years old
The only thing that may have been of some interest is that Psalms 90 is not a Psalm but a prayer, not of David, but of Moses.
12 ¶ So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom.
So teach us-This is an appeal to God for instruction Moses had made a habit of doing this \\ to number our days – what does that mean?
Hebrew word Manah (maw-naw’)
1. to count – relate counting of days – 15858 know where you have been
2. to make a detailed report about                   Know where your are going
3. to appoint to a task or office in an official manner   Be determined to get there
4. to prepare for a specific and determined purpose

13 Return, O LORD! How long?
And have compassion on Your servants.
14 Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy, That we may rejoice and be glad all our days!
15 Make us glad according to the days in which You have afflicted us, The years in which we have seen evil.
16 Let Your work appear to Your servants, And Your glory to their children.
17 And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us, And establish the work of our hands for us; Yes, establish the work of our hands.
The result of numbering our days is gaining a heart of wisdom, with wisdom we:
1.     go from facing His wrath to seeking His compassion
2.     go from being consumed by His anger to being satisfied and rejoicing
3.     go from finishing our years with a sigh to seeing the work of God appear before us and God’s Glory appearing to our children.
We all have numbers:  We have all lived a number of days, some more than others.
We all have a number of days yet to live, some more than others.
It is what we do with our numbers that is important.
I leave you with this scripture: Eph 5:15-17 Take great care, then, how you live--not unwisely but wisely,  Making the most of every opportunity; for these are evil days.
Therefore do not grow thoughtless, but try to understand what the Lord's will is.
Prayer
Dear God in Heaven, Teach us to number our days, Help us to know where we have been, where we are going, give us the will to get there and most of all Lord prepare our way.
It is in the Mighty and Wonderful Name of Jesus we pray.
For this wonderful congregation Lord I leave this Blessing:
The LORD bless you and keep you;
The LORD make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you;
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.
Amen
