TITLE: WHAT GOES DOWN MUST COME UP 03142021 SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 24:16 * Going down does not have to be the end of your story because you can rise again. Proverbs 24:16 * David is introduced in the Bible caring for the sheep when his brothers were being interviewed to anointed as king. 1 Samuel 16:11 * When he shows up he is anointed over his brothers - he was down but came up on top. 1 Samuel 16:12 * Then he kills Goliath and he comes further up - attains national fame. * The fame attracts the envy of Saul and he has to go into exile - he went down. * Then we get to 1 Samuel 30 where the place their place of refuge had been invaded and their families carried away - another down. * What did David do when he was up or when he recovered all? He sowed or put down a seed of what he recovered in Judah including Hebron. 1 Samuel 30:26-27, 31 * On the third day after the third day after the recovery of what was taken from them and the spoil of the Amaleliktes, David received news that Saul and Jonathan were dead. 2 Samuel 1:1-4 * The miraculous promotion or lifting up of David came from Judah and Hebron where he sowed some of the spoil he took from the Amalekites. 2 Samuel 2:1-4 * Another way to be lifted up when you are down is to humble yourself. 1 Peter 5:6, James 4:10 * Don't forget it is all by the grace of God so don't get arrogant. 1 Samuel 30:23. * Hannah was down because she was barren and her rival Peninnah provoked her so she was miserable for years. 1 Samuel 1:6-7 * She did not accept the condition but resorted to prayer and made a vow to God. 1 Samuel 1:10-11 * She paid her vow to God. 1 Samuel 1:27-28 * Because she paid her vow but did not keep her blessing, the one son she prayed for became a Prophet who returned a nation to God and she got 3 more sons and 2 daughters. 1 Samuel 2:18, 20-21
