Jesus is comforting his disciples - he’s about to be betrayed and crucified
Jesus is saying that what he’s about to go through is necessary for them to have life with the Father. But God’s house is big enough for them, he’s not shining them on.
They are confused (his meaning will become clear only after the resurrection)
