Letting the Inside Out

Intro.  The whole idea of inside out.

  Do you Like yourself ?   Even though you you know where all those little secrets are?

 If you could pick,   would you make friends with yourself.

   Do ya like Her?

I.  We must ask,   “What do I have inside of me?”

    and then “ What do I need to have inside of me?”

         We all start out the same way.

                We are all created by God , intimately.

     Ps 139:14

14      I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

     Wonderful are your works;

          my soul knows it very well.

Ga 1:15

15 But when he who had set me apart before I was born(Greek from my mothers womb), and who called me by his grace,

          We all share the same basic needs.

Food, water, shelter, air  Get those things and your physical well being will do O.K.

        We are more than flesh and bone designed for more than that.

 We have a spirit, a soul.   A soul that has one most basic initial need….Jesus Christ.

Jn 14:6

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Without him we are lost

           Ro 3:10-18

10 as it is written:

“     None is righteous, no, not one;

11           no one understands;

          no one seeks for God.

12      All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;

          no one does good,

          not even one.”

13 “     Their throat is an open grave;

          they use their tongues to deceive.”

“     The venom of asps is under their lips.”

14       “     Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.”

15 “     Their feet are swift to shed blood;

16           in their paths are ruin and misery,

17      and the way of peace they have not known.”

18       “     There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

Ro 3:23

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Need for Life.

Ro 6:23

23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

II.   How do get the right stuff inside of me?

          The two natures….  Old and New

2 Co 5:16-21

16 From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Eph 4:22-24

22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, 23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

How do I….             Feed Freckles not Cujo

Php 4:8-9

8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Eph 3:14-21

14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen

Jn 15:7-11

7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. 9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

III.  The inside out part…. A River of Life

Jn 4:10-14

10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” 11 The woman said to him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw water with, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob? He gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and his livestock.” 13 Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty forever. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Bread

Jn 6:35

35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.

Jn 6:48

48 I am the bread of life.

Jn 6:51

51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”

Light

Jn 8:12

I Am the Light of the World

12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Jn 9:5

5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Mt 25:34-46

34 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ 44 Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ 45 Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ 46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
