The Holy Spirit

John 14:12–18 NKJV
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

Have we have learned to live without the Holy Spirit?

Do we live our lives without the Holy Spirit?
Do we try to live for God without the Holy Spirit?
Do we “do” church without the Holy Spirit?
Do we “do” the work of God without the Holy Spirit?
“I consider that the chief dangers which confront the coming century will be…religion without the Holy Ghost, Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration, politics without God, and heaven without hell.”a. William Booth: “I consider that the chief dangers which confront the coming century will be…religion without the Holy Ghost, Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration, politics without God, and heaven without hell.” —William Booth, Founder of the Salvation Army
The devil offered Jesus the kingdoms of this world without the cross if He would simply bow down and worship him. (Luke 4:5-8) We have been seduced by the devil to accept the “bargain” of a counterfeit church without the cross or dependence on the Holy Spirit.

Jesus has NOT left us alone!

Forty days after His resurrection, Jesus ascended to the Father in heaven.
Jesus said He would not leave His disciples (children) as orphans.
Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit.
This promise was fulfilled ten days later on the Day of Pentecost.

Who the Holy Spirit is NOT!

The Holy Spirit is NOT an “it”.
He is NOT a “thing”.
He is NOT a “force”.
He is NOT an “angel”.
He is NOT a “creature”.
He is NOT “enthusiasm”.
He is NOT “goose bumps”.
He is NOT a “master of ceremony” over a mystical carnival show.

He is a “Person” (John 16:8).
He is the Spirit of God (Genesis 1:2)

He is the Promise of the Father (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4; 2:33; Galatians 3:13)

What is His relationship to the world?

He convicts the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment (John 16:8-10)
John 16:8–10 NKJV
And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;

He gives us power for witness and ministry (Acts 1:8; John 14:12-14; Mark 16:16-18)
