Transcript
Jesus prayed for Himself in the first section, now he turns to pray for His disciples. He prays for them because of the work that He is going to do in them and through them.
His prayer is based on the confidence that His followers are HIS. They belong to Him because the Father has given them to Him.

To be kept in His name is a guarantee of fellowship.
“That they may be one, even as we are one.”
To receive the name of the Lord is to enter into fellowship with Him. (verse 3)
11 I am coming soon. Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown. 12 The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name.
To be kept in His name is pronouncement of blessing. (v. 13)
It is the blessing of joy in relationship with the Lord.
23 “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them, 24 The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; 26 the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. 27 “So shall they put my name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them.”
To be kept in His name is a promise of protection. (v. 14)
10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.

Jesus did not pray for his disciples to be transported out of the world, but that they would be kept from the wiles of the evil one (Satan).
His mission depended on them remaining in the world to spread the good news.

Jesus Prayed for Their Sanctification
Because they would be in the world, Jesus prayed that his disciples would be distinct from the world. Set apart. Sanctified!
We are sanctified by the Word of God. The Truth!
1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
