Intro -
Easter – time when people will come to church that normally would not.
There is a lot of worry about the church and we are being attacked... There are moves in the public square to silence Christians who still believe the Bible… who hold to Biblical morals. People will try to make you a racist for your views… to say you are an extremist… really…
This is has been a good series…
18 Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.
Series – Our Church – Passion for God, Prayer, Praise and Worship and for People… We need the Power the Holy Spirit in our lives and in our church... We learned to live in the Tree of Life... by Grace… We have learned that our church is built on relationships…
With all that said, Today, I want to tell you…

Turn to someone and say that you are glad they are hear. Turn to your second choice and say you look like you could use some Word today.
We believe it from front to back… it’s the WOG and it’s relevant to our lives. We have based out church on it and we believe it… no matter what.
The best thing that happened to me… two things really. I had a period in school that I had to read the Bible for a whole hour every day… The other was a small group we went through. Both of these placed a love for the Word of God.
When I went to seminary, I thought I knew a lot… when I came out, I realized I didn’t know much. But in Seminary, they taught me HOW to study the bible. That’s important because God’s Word is DEEP and it’s WIDE… You can read the same passage 100 times and gret something new out of each time.

16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
It’s amazing....
All scripture is God breathed… and it teaches us whats true… and corrects us when we get off track… teaches us what is right … and prepares us to do the ministry.
19 And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
The Scripture is not man’s interpretation.
If the HS can carry them along, the HS can carry us along. No matter what is going on in this crazy world, the HS can carry us along. Why?
12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
WOG is alive. It’s alive and powerful. It was alive when God breathed it and it’s alive today.
This is why we don’t let our emotions set what we believe. We let the WOG determine what we believe. It doesn’t matter what… says, it matters what the WOG says.
When we understand this, we will know… that there are no words like God’s words. GW is alive and it’s our guide book… We have built this church on it.
If we don’t get this ingrained in us… if I don’t allow the WOG to direct me, the nothing else will line up.
The WOG generates life, creates faith, promotes change, weapon against the devil… That’s why the devil is out to destroy the WOG because it’s what defeats him. People say this is 2021 and the Bible is old and maybe needs to be updated. This isn’t software… an iPhone or a computer, you don’t have to update this. The devil hates the WOG. He hates it when a marriage is built on it… when you run your business according to it…
The WOG gives us power, it gives us truth, heals hurts, imparts joy and hope, cleanses our past, brings about real change. It transcends time. We cannot live without it.

We believe that with all of our heart.
Look at 2 Tim 3:16-17 in the LB
16 The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us do what is right. 17 It is God’s way of making us well prepared at every point, fully equipped to do good to everyone.
Since God’s Word is the only reliable authority, we accept the Bible as our manual for living.
Our first question when faced with something, we ask, what does the Bible say about this. We practice daily Bible Reading, Bible Studies, … we read the Bible in a year… Why? Because we believe the Bible is the WOG … the foundation of what we believe.
This was true when it was written, and it’s true today.
Look at this...
7 The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. 8 The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living. 9 Reverence for the Lord is pure, lasting forever. The laws of the Lord are true; each one is fair. 10 They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb. 11 They are a warning to your servant, a great reward for those who obey them.
The WOG helps us not to stray… to wander off the path where God wants us to be. The WOG stands true through good and bad times… it’s the foundation of our lives. They are all right… even the ones I don’t like.
The most important decision you can make is to settle the issue of who will be the ultimate authority in your life. We need to have the WOG as the foundation of our lives. A time is coming sooner than I would like, and if you don’t stand for something you will fall for anything. If you have not built your life on the foundation of the WOG, you will flop all over the place. Culture changes all the time.
Decide that that the Bible is the WOG and you will base your life on it.
You have to put

When you are faced with something.... what does the Bible say about that? What does the Bible when FB says… when that professor says… when someone says… when that TV show says this is ok…
If the Bible is first, it will do three things…

We need some thing to help us with direction. This culture has come off the tracks.
105 Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.

It’s our shield… our protection.
11 I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
When we put the WOG in our heart, it protects us from sinning. There is compromise all over the place so we haver to put the WOG in hearts so that we can have the protection of God in our lives.

We need correction today more than any time i can remember. Like I said, this culture has run off the tracks and gotten off track. When we get off course, the Bible will correct our course.
When people come at you and say if you are going to believe this, we got a problem… point a them and say problem. Stand on the WOG.

We need GW today.
One of the problems today is we have to tip toe around everything. It seems that everything offends someone, but we need to plant ourselves on God’s word. When you do that you will stand.
When you make God’s word your foundation, …

I pray that for you this year. We want you to exp that rich and satisfying life Jesus talked about.

You want to prosper? Base your life on the WOG! We want you to flourish.
You may not understand it all… that’s ok. When you have made the decision that you are based on the foundation of the Bible,

There is a fight coming. It’s starting now. He wants to remove the WOG from you… from our church… from our culture. We need to fight the good fight.
We can stand on the promises of God in the Bible.
For those of you who are sick, let me give you a verse…
17 I will not die; instead, I will live to tell what the Lord has done.
Folks. Here at River Church, we base our lives on the Word of God. You grip and don’t let anyone take that from you. We are built on the WOG.
If you are bound up, here is a verse…
1 So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.
17 For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
This church is built on the WOG… the bible. It’s our final authority.
Here is another verse…
16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
That verse says that if you will believe, trust… depend on Jesus, you will not perish, but have eternal life.
