Shield of Faith

Ephesians 6:16 CSB
In every situation take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
As we close our series on the armor of God we close with the one that is so vital for us as Christians. We as Christians are called to hold true to the faith even when the times get tough. One of the things that Paul is writing here is that there will be a day where we will have the Evil one try to to come after us and shoot fire arrows at us.
The big thought that comes to mind is what are the flaming arrows going to look like.

Flaming Arrows

The truth of the matter is that the flaming arrows that are being talked about are different is everyone lives.
See is comes from a range of things that happen in our lives Such as
Depression
Anxiety
Abandonment
worthlessness
Basically is it anything that is can cause us to deter from our course. Anything that will cause us to doubt God or stray away from him.
Think about it what is something that happens in your life that has cause you to doubt God .
We can even refer it to the feel good sin
That’s what I like to call them.
What do we do when these type of sin start to interfere with our lives.

We hold the Faith

In times like these we have to hold on the the faith that Christ is in control of our lives and remember that God as a plan for us.
When we hold the faith we remember that there are going to be time that are tough there are going to be times that we want to just walk away from it all. But when we Look back on Christ we see that he went through things that were not deserved.
He was beaten
Taunted
Mocked
Spit on
Wore a crown of thorns
And eventually put on the cross.
No matter the things that he went though the thing on his mind was you.
the thought on his mind was that through him the sacrifice was the way out for us to reach the kingdom of heaven.
We are reminded by Paul in 2 Timothy

6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time for my departure is close. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 There is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me, but to all those who have loved his appearing.,

We have a prize waiting for us.

We have a prize for us waiting so when we hold the faith we know that the risk is worth the reward.
I want you to take that index card you were given and write the sin that has affected you the most and has cause you to lose that faith. When you are done it is time to ask yourself why.
