Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by his vast strength. Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens. For this reason take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand. Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest, and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace. In every situation take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit—which is the word of God. Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints. Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel. For this I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I might be bold enough to speak about it as I should.
Tonight we will be talking about the sword of the spirit. This is a piece of armor that is used to fight the battles that are placed in the our lives by the devil in order to stop is from winning the war for Christ.
now this is a thing that seems kinda silly when thinking about it.

The truth is this is a simple piece of armor to understand but one of the items we tend to place of the self and forget about it. See the sword is something that is used so common and nearly everyone can get their hands on it.
It is also something that we tend to leave lying around versus being ready to use it regularly.
For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
See i want us to focus on this because our sword is the very word of God that we chose to either read or not read
chose to carry it or to shelve it.
This is a pretty straight forward thing that we have to follow if we want to over come the power of the devil is we have to be ready for battle.

in the military we spend hours upon hours cleaning our weapons and dissembling them then resembling them. then we spend time shooting them and practicing with them.
We don’t do this because we have nothing better to do, we do it because you have to know your weapon inside and out and understand how it works if not you are consider useless with it.
It is the same thing with our swords we have to understand how our bible works we have to read it take the time to memorize it to know where versus are without a moment notice so when the time comes to defend yourself you are equip and ready for battle.
