Revelation 16 Part II Preview Just as God's wrath was shown from heaven against the Egyptians in the plagues, so in this chapter we see how God's wrath is displayed from heaven against this age. It is full, it is summarized in a week. If we seek to know why our world heads down such a wayward and Observe 1. And the seventh angel poured out his vial...this is the last of God's wrath. The final bowl. The culmination of all His wrath. 2. Into the air...every bowl had a particular place for its contents; the earth, the sea, the rivers and waters, the sun, the beast and his kingdom, the great river Euphrates, and here into the air. This was the totality of all creation. It was the full extent of the earth's hostility. It encompassed all that fueled the beast and his anger, as well as the dragon's fury. All were met with God's wrath. 3. From the throne...how rare to hear the voice of the Almighty. Yet, here He speaks and ends the matter once and for all. 4. Saying, It is done...how definitive the Lord's words. Just like the Son of God on the cross, so it is affirmed here that it is over. 5. Such as was not since...so certain was this the end and so complete that it is unlike any other day or trouble. In all, the finality of God's wrath is terrible. 6. And the great city was divided into three parts... 7. The cities of the nations fell... 8. Great Babylon came in remembrance before God...all the earth's fury, the pride of men, which sought to boast against God, here are laid waste. 9. To give unto her the cup of the wine...God gives to them all the dregs to drink. 10. Every island fled away...the mountains were not found...no hiding places. No escape. It chases men from every crevice to face His judgment. 11. There fell upon men a great hail out of heaven...the raining of God's wrath is tremendous and inescapable. 12. Men blasphemed God...even to the uttermost and final extreme of God's fury men remain rebellious, and worse yet, blasphemous, unthankful, and haters of the most High God. 13. Exceeding great...God will do what men cannot and will exact justice in the end. Doctrines I. God's holiness II. God's impeccability. III. God's immenseness IV. God's immutability. Uses 1. For our terror. 2. For our awe. 3. For our gratitude. 4. For our recompense.
