Summary: Paul talks about our adversary, armor, and attitude we need to have in preparation for spiritual battle.
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
We are soldiers of God, and we need to be preparing for battle.
We need to know what to expect.
We need to know our enemies.
We need to be ready.
We need to be prepared.
The question for the day is, “Are you ready to face your own spiritual battle?
I. Our Adversary:
I. Our Adversary:
Satan
Our text reveals that he is determined.
He’s not going to leave you alone.
He is not going to let up.
Other text reveals that he is dangerous.
He seeks to discredit you.
10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
He seeks to deceive you.
9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
He seeks to destroy you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
II. Our Armour:
II. Our Armour:
Our armor is of spiritual in nature.
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
Armed and Ready
Why would Christians not want to use the Full Armor of God? What keeps them from using God’s Power?
1. They don’t sense the danger or recognize the power of the enemy.
2. They don’t have all the weapons. They have never been taught the significance and importance of those weapons
3. They are untrained in the use of those weapons. Without practice, no soldier can be ready for battle.
4. They may be in a comfort zone. Perhaps they are somehow compromising with the enemy.
As pastor of Faith Bible Baptist Church. It makes me a sort of a Drill Sargent, that it is my job to; prepare, teach, and train the members and guest of this church in the skills to battle spiritual warfare.
All believers must take hold of the power that God has made available to them. We cannot fight the battles without it.
What is our armour and what is it’s application?
Belt:
Satan fights with lies, and sometimes his lies sound like truth; but only believers have God’s truth, which can defeat Satan’s lies.
Breastplate of Righteousness:
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Satan often attacks our heart, the seat of our emotions, self-worth, and trust.
God’s righteousness is the breastplate that protects our heart and ensures His approval.
God approves of us because He loves us and sent His Son to die for us.
Shoes:
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Satan whats us to think that telling others the Good News is worthless and hopeless task,
The size of the task is too big and negative responses are too much to handle.
But the footwear God gives us,
Enables us to proclaim true peace,
That is available in God.
This is news everyone needs to hear.
Shield of Faith:
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
But the shield of faith protects us from Satan’s flaming darts.
With God’s perspective,
We can see beyond our circumstances and know that the ultimate victory is ours.
Helmet of Salvation:
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Satan wants to make us doubt God, Jesus, and our salvation.
The helmet protects our mind from doubting God’s saving grace for us.
The Sword of the Spirit:
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
The sword is the only weapon of offense in this list of armor.
There are time when we need to take the offensive against Satan.
When we are tempted, we need to live in the spirit of God’s Word.
A. Our Armor is Sufficient for the Need.
A. Our Armor is Sufficient for the Need.
We are assured of power for the conflicts we may face.
We are assured of protection in the conflicts we may face.
III. Our Attitude:
III. Our Attitude:
To be ready for battle we must have a Christ like attitude.
The Boy Scout’s motto is : Be Prepared
Christian’s should use this same motto.
You may ask, “How do I Prepare?”
That’s the most simple thing.

B. Closing:
B. Closing:
19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
An Ambassador is a representative of a country or kingdom.
As Ambassador of God, We represent God’s Kingdom.
Are you ready to be God’s Ambassador?
Are you ready to surrender to God’s Will?
Are you ready to take up the cross?
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
Are you ready to answer God’s call to arms?
