Growth must be intentional

Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, 2 of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this we will do if God permits.

Elementary = things we should know as children in the faith
When you are younger you don’t realize that the things are doing are intended for you to Grow.
Eating Healthy, exercise, Homework – All of these things are designed for growth.
For Example: In education, we intentional building a scaffolding inside of the curriculum so student will move from level of learning to the next. This is intentional.

Jesus chose twelve people to grow

There were many people following Jesus, but there were not as many that intended to grow.
Many of these followers were only spectators.
How do we know this? How many people were in the upper room? Answer: 120

5 And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”
