Genesis 22:13–14 KJV 1900
And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.

I. Resolve of Faith.

A. Urgency

Abraham displayed an urgency for his actions. He left the next morning.

B. Preparedness

Abraham had made provisions for the sacrifice.

II. Reverence of Faith.

A. Private devotion.

Abraham left his servants behind.

B. Personal responsibility.

Abraham and Isaac carried the materials up the mountain.
Abraham was going to offer his son and not ask his servants to perform what he was commanded to do.

III. Relinquishing of Faith.

When I say relinquish I mean that faith will require us to let go of some things not that we must let go of our faith.

A. What we value most.

Abraham was willing to sacrifice his beloved son who was the fulfilment of Gods promise.

B. What others may not understand.

Sarah would have had great difficulty in accepting that Abraham was told by God to sacrifice Isaac.

IV. Reservoir of Faith.

In the Bible we find two instances of an animal in a thicket. The first is found her in Genesis 22 Where God provided for Abraham. The second is in Jeremiah 4:7 where God was bringing judgement upon Israel. The difference in a blessing or a curse may depend upon our faith.
Jeremiah 4:7 KJV 1900
The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.

A. God preserved His promise to Abraham.

B. God preserved Isaac.
