We need light in the darkness

We take light for granted

Middle ages - guilds donated candles to church, people brought their candles to church to be blessed

Light was a sign of God’s presence

Nothing unusual happened that day that anyone else noticed

incarnation - sharing our humanity, even the bits he didn’t need

Remember John’s prologue at the start of Christmas

Spread the light by living with Christ in the ordinary things of life
