Part 3: Biblical Rules for Saving & Investing

Proverbs 21:20

  • Proverbs 21:20, “In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man devours all he has.”

Prioritize Your Financial Resources:

  • 1.) Give Back God’s Portion.
  • 2.) Pay for Necessary Expenses.
  • 3.) Start an Emergency Fund.
  • 4.) Eliminate Debt.
  • 5.) Invest for the Future.

Biblical Rules of Investing:

1.) If you don’t understand it, don’t invest in it.

  • Proverbs 24:3-4, “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.”

2.) Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

  • Ecclesiastes 11:2, “Divide your investments among many places, for you do not know what risks might lie ahead.” (NLT)

3.) Don’t seek to get rich quick.

  • 1 Timothy 6:9, “People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.”
  • Proverbs 13:11b, “…he who gathers money little by little makes it grow.”
