I have a new song for us. It's a song that actually isn't new. It's 92 years old. I believe I was looking through some songs and I found this song and I just thought with everything going on today. This is such a good song that God is still on the throne. So feel free to join me on the chorus. But yeah, let's let's learn that's not the one maybe maybe we'll do a different one. Did you get the weed in there we go. Here we go. God is still on the throne?

Just just listen to the words. Have you started? for Glory and

have you left this time? In your heart is the comforter. Can you say praise the Lord?

Have the ones that once walked on the highway? They've gone back and you seem alone. Keep your eyes on the prize.

And he will remember his own. Do trials may press us and burdens distress us. He never

never

His promise is true for he won't spark at you.

Burden soul is your heart growing weary with the toil and the Heat of the day? Does it seem that your past is more thorny life?

Go away in secret before him Your Grave 2.

Or he will lighten your care.

God is still long. He will remember his own. Do try send burden stress test.

He never forsake.

All his promises true. He will not forget you. his promises Is Promised true? He will not forget you.

A man Lord, we acknowledge you that you still are on the throne. We can hold you for in everything we do and right now with our offering and tithes and offering where we acknowledge that you.

The world is yours all that we owned. What is yours? We are merely stewards of your word of your of all that you've given us and we are so grateful, so please be glorified in our offering today. Please be glorified as we listen to the word given to us today in Jesus precious name. Amen. All right, the kids can go and and praise the Lord on their level. Let us remember to thank God for pastor and Pam and how much they mean to just continue to pray for them is there I'm enjoying their time in Texas. I believe that right, Texas do they were in Texas stir while traveling so continue to be praying for them and we are delighted to have Pastor Chuck Goldberg with us to give us the word today. So let's welcome Pastor Chuck.

Good morning.

There's a nice little song there than a couple limericks there in the cars. Did you notice? Yeah.

So welcome to all of you. My message to you is entitled. I don't care what they think.

Nothing deluded about this one. So a lady celebrating her 102nd birthday was asked what she like most about turning 102. She replied the lack of peer pressure.

Well, that's a witty for sure, but there's a real message in that for us. And that's if you're truly devoted to God, you don't have to outlive all of your peers to escape here pressure. That's because if you have a real relationship with God you only have an audience of one to please.

My messages about someone who didn't get that Saul King Saul Israel's first king. Show my text count from his story and 1st Samuel 15. I'm just going to read chunks of it and my text will come out of there. So just to set it up. When the Israelites left Egypt, they suffered a lot at the hands of the amalekites. These people were the first to oppose them. They were like gorillas Fighters like terrorists who preyed upon the weak and they had absolutely no regard for God or his people like we saying God is slow to anger he's patient, but he knew that these people would never repent it is for knowledge. And had they repented he would have forgiven them, but he knew that wasn't going to happen. So he promised the Israelites in Deuteronomy 25 that one day he was going to bring pay back. now the task to deliver this payback felt the Saul first king Robert Samuel, personally delivered God's command to him and that was totally destroy everything that breathed. I mean everything even the animals. Now the things are now here is that the Hebrew phrase for totally destroy appears seven times in this chapter 7 times totally destroy. That means that this had risen to the level of a holy war. The guy this was a big big deal.

It wouldn't be just any ordinary military Victory. So taking on this battle was taking on a special Act of consecration to God. So it's such a clear command. What did Saul do? Well is obedience was only partial? He killed everything of little value, but Spirit everything else including their King. On top of that he returns home and he sets up a monument in his own honor. So early the next morning here comes Samuel again this time to confront Saul was full of excuses. And I absolutely love the way Samuel handles it. He's like us killed prosecutor taking apart an evasive defendant in court. This is beautiful the way she Samuel man of God, like him took it on to here we go 1st Samuel 15 starting at verse 13 when Samuel reached himself said the Lord bless you I have carried out the Lord's instructions liar.

But here is Samuel and he starts right in on him. He says what then is this bleating of sheep in my ears member he was called those destroy everything including the animals with one simple question. You just tear them apart. What the hell is this bleating of sheep in my ears? What is the slowing of cattle that I hear? Saul answered the soldiers brought them from the amalekites they spared the best of the sheep and cattle to sacrifice to the Lord your God, but we totally destroyed the rest. Well recently Pastor Lonnie message talked about how Adam and Eve passed the buck. Remember Adam to Eve Eve to The Serpent. And so here we go again. Now, we got slow passing the buck to the soldiers all the soldiers took it. 1 doors off and pass the buck. But Samuel shuts them up and reminds them of the mission was to totally destroy these people. Skipping the verse 19 now Samuel asked. Why did you not obey the Lord? Why did you pounce on the plunder and do evil in the eyes of the Lord now? So I'll tries to justify himself while continuing the buck pass. First 20 but I did obey the Lord so I'll said I went on the mission the Lord assign me I completely destroy the amalekites and brought back a gag their King then the back pass again the soldiers took sheep and cattle from the plunder the best of what was devoted to God in order to sacrifice them to the Lord your God at gilgal. Samuel now that's masterfully to the heart of the matter verse 22, but Samuel replied does the Lord Delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the Lord. To obey is better than sacrifice at the heat is better than the fat of rams or Rebellion is like the sin of divination and arrogance like the evil of idolatry because you have rejected the word of the Lord. He has rejected you as king 000 rejection is king of Ooo. Sorry lies is a lion but passing I'm cutting it so well, so he better switch tactics. He better say something that at least sounds like a confession first 24 and saw said to Samuel I have sinned that's really mean it. I violated the Lord's command and your instructions. I was afraid of the people and so I gave in to them now I beg you forgive my sins and come back with me so that I may Worship the Lord. But then after Samuel further Rams home the message that saw blew away is kingship now. So I'm all this more empty words of repentance first 30. So I replied I have send it again then comes the real truth. But please honor me before the Elders of my people and before Israel come back with me so that I may Worship the Lord your God. So now we see clearly files motive public acceptance. First Decades of the will of the people saying in first 24, he feared them then after Samuel firmly tells them the kingship is gone. You think he showed genuine remorse now and plead for Mercy since God was plenty angry shockingly. All he cared about was that Samuel stick around a while longer why so he would be honored before all the people so he wouldn't lose face in front of them. Unbelievable. The guy turned out to be a complete crowd-pleaser. We know. Pressure is commonly associated with young people where they feel they have to dress and act a certain way or be seen with the right click, but adults can also get caught up on things like having money a nice home the right car so they can look successful but it seems incredible that someone and Sol shoes would put the people's desire before gods and it's something that was so important to God. Yet we have to realize that we two can be susceptible if we're not careful. So what then must we do while I've got three points. 9.1 realize we're under a new value system. If you surrendered your life to Christ this world is not your home.

Peter calls are strangers to this world in 1st Peter 2:11. He also caused us pilgrims. Meaning we're just passing through. Why then would we care what people of the world think about us?

Before coming to Christ many cared about man's opinion because they live by the world standard their values but Salvation brought a radical change, we're still in this world, but we're not of this world.

Are worth, somewhere position in Christ not from it in the world? John really lays it out Samuel style in 1st John 2 15 to 17. Do not love the world or anything in the world. Listen to this if anyone loves the world the love of the father is not in him. For everything in the world the Cravings of sinful man the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does comes not from the father, but from the world the world and its desires pass away. But the man who does the will of God lives forever. Do I care about the opinions of those in the world who are perishing when we want to care more about pleasing God who offers us eternal life?

And then Paul makes it just as clear in Colossians 3 124. He says since then you have been raised with Christ set your heart on things above where Christ is seated at the right hand of God set your minds on things above not on Earthly things for you died. And your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears then you also will appear with him in glory. Yeah, so if you call yourself a follower of Christ ask yourself do I care what the other guy is doing? Am I trying to keep up with his lifestyle or whatever? When you stop focusing on God, that's when peer pressure comes in. Paul tells us in the Fusions for not the quote live as the Gentiles do in the futility of their thinking on the quote. He tells us to put off the old self and put on the new self. Song never got it, right spiritually losing the kingship and eventually his life. There's no record. He ever truly repented. It's not the world's standards. You should try to live up to its not the people you think are your friends you should worry about. Estatus got standards. That should shape who you are. We're set apart for him not to be like everyone else. Going to obey the will of God before all else. God's will on this matter was made a mistake of early clear to him yet. He chose to do it his way though. Maybe he had a gradual obedience planned where he would kill everyone maybe in front of that Monument you set up we don't know but that's not what God commanded. He said that totally destroy everybody. So I was like all the people today who shrug it off when they're told they must be born again to see the kingdom of God. Jesus said that that's the only way to him so many just shrug it off and they say forget that I'm going to do it my way. Maybe that's the pending on religion. Maybe it's piling up brownie points with God. He created all these fine because the good will outweigh the bad. But again, that's not God's plan.

Paul called that establishing your own righteousness in Romans 10:3 saying that's not submitting to God's righteousness. It's only doing God's will that counts in several gospel. Jesus says that not everyone who calls him. Lord is going to enter Heaven. but only those who do what God do well he said that many who founded upon their religiosity are not going to make it he said God gives us all a specific path, but he said he was going to do it his way. Samuel told him he was guilty of rebellion that will be the instrument burnt offerings and sacrifices. And this point that Samuel has made in both Old and New Testaments. There's so many good vs. I could choose from I just took one. I made the same mistake the children of Israel made from David Jeremiah 721 to 24 very juicy. This is what the Lord Almighty the god of Israel says I can 21 go ahead and your burnt offerings to your the sacrifices and eat the meat yourselves. But when I brought your forefathers out of Egypt and spoke to them I did not just give them commands if I burn offerings and sacrifices, but I gave them this command. Obey me and I will be your God and you will be my people walking all the ways I come and you that it may go well with you before you go but they did not listen to pay attention instead. They follow the stubborn inclinations of their evil Hearts. They went backward and not forward. The Bible and several vs Memphis eyes, is that the sacrificial system in itself the animal sacrifice didn't get anyone anywhere Isaiah especially made it clear that the sacrifices were worthless. If you didn't have a heart of genuine repentance in the life of a BD ins and saw had to know this on some level but public opinion went one out because he was never right with God. We know politicians are ones who are all about maintaining a nice image. The politicians of Bible times. We're no different. Make a King Herod. He didn't want to have John the Baptist executed but he did it. Anyway, why because he had made a promise in front of his dinner guests. And that Bob killing John he didn't want to lose face in front of them. So we had John killed beheaded anyway. Public pressure cave again and then pilot, you know all about Pontius Pilate who knew Jesus was innocent and tried to free him more than once. He had the power but instead pulled us all and gave in to the people calling for Jesus crucifixion. He was another buckpasser and crowd-pleaser. It's easy to talk about following the will of God in church where we're all in one mind and the things of God, but out there in the world. That's a lot more challenging. Look at pieter talked a good game while hanging with Jesus and the other disciples, but when he got out there and the pressure was on we know what he did an item. We will we've got our own pressures to conform in today's world. But if we truly love God, we're going to have a relationship. So deep that whatever the other voices say isn't going to matter to us.

But how do we do this point three focus on the process? That's how we get our relationship with him that goes deep enough to withstand peer pressure. So we won't deny Christ in any way. And that process is pretty basic for example, consider your car. If you want your car to run it requires gas and oil. So you give it gas and oil otherwise, it won't run basic your body needs food and water. Will you provide the food and water? So that will run? What about a relationship with God. How do you keep that running? Well that's going to be regular Bible reading and prayer and going to church and surrounding yourself with people who help you grow spiritually. But if your Bible is Dusty and you only pray when you need something in church is only when you feel like it or you, he just look at your cell phone the whole time it's too concerned about what others do and think it's healing you better fit in. When your relationship with God is close you will take a stand with a quinces. Daniel is one example, he took a stand for God and he wound up in the Lion's Den but God brought him through his friends will end up in the fiery furnace for standing up to the king and came out not even smelling of smoke.

Ships with God when they do he had their backs no matter how tough the opposition so pure pressure never enter their minds. We also show that your pressure influences Us by the things we don't do like do we fail to object when something is not right? Like if some guys at work tell a dirty joke or indulge and nasty gossip, but you smile just to go along cuz you don't want to look like a holier-than-thou. Well, we need to care more about what God thinks and others it's him. We have to make proud if we don't stand for him and the little things we won't stand for him in the big things. And big times are approaching we don't know what the future holds but we know whom we have believed. And we have to stand up for him and not cave to other voices. Jesus said in Matthew 10 verse 32 starting there and he said whoever acknowledges me before men. I will also acknowledge Him before my Father in heaven, but whoever disowns me before men. I will disown him before my Father in heaven. Empress 37 to 39 anyone who loves his father more than me is not worthy of me. Anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

So those times come when you're confronted with a choice, what will you do? Will you choose God or others? Will you do what the world says? It's important or I would God's word says it's important. If you have not been focusing on the process then Now's the Time. Isaiah had a lot to say to the Israelites about their misplaced priorities and he also has a good word for us now in 55 6. He said seek the Lord while he may be found call on him while he is near Main conclusion Jose the day is coming when we're out of ice and the chance to call upon him will be over. When that day comes when you stand before him and the book is opened you will stand there alone. alone All those friends who are one so important will not be there. Also God won't consider your bank account your wardrobe Vehicles home social standing. All that will matter is whether he finds you guilty or innocent.

Maybe that's where those songwriters got the song Highway to Hell. Does going to be a Highway to Hell the Bible says it's going to be a broad road that leads to destruction and many will go that way but narrow is the gate that or throw the life if you will be that find it but that's majority will be guilty and what's so tragic is that it will be because they put public opinion before what they knew was, right? And what do all those opinions matter now of those people with sets about to be pronounced on them? The God shows you all the times you went along with the crowd. What will you say if he asks you why didn't you love me more than them? What will you reply? Will you try making excuses like saw? We know that's not going to fly.

If you don't yet have a relationship with God. Well, let us know and we will explain how to begin one. And if you already have one, but it's only lukewarm that you know what to do. You got to recommit to him, but it's going to require real sincerity. unlike saw No, empty words. And then if you feed that relationship as I explained, you're going to find yourself living in a way that shows Jesus opinion is the only one that matters to you the keys the only one you care about impressing. It's all about living up to the old song Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus. Remember that song that goes Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus look full in his wonderful face and what will happen the things of Earth will grow strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace. I just beat you that song. If you focus on him, and the things of the world grow dim, it's the things of the world are big in your life. That means you're not looking at him enough. In the end you don't have to outlive your peers like the hundred and two year old lady. You just please at audience of one. And peer pressure will become a non-factor. amen

Houston time to chew on that You know in all of our lives and everything we do. Do you remember that we're here for an audience of one?

Sometimes I feel like in my life there a certain areas where it's easy and certain areas where I forget. sometimes I think it's especially can be difficult when we Are focusing on the future.

Because He Lives we can face tomorrow.

Thank you Lord that you live. What causes to remember throughout the week that because you live? We don't have to be afraid we don't have to give in because you live you are on the throne Lord help us to focus as Pastor Chuck said on the process that would help us to draw closer to you.
