Part 2: Self-Control & Sacrifice

Proverbs 13:7

  • Proverbs 22:7, “The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.”
    • Servant: `ebed; a servant, a slave, in bondage.
  • Proverbs 13:7, “One man pretends to be rich, yet has nothing…”

1.) Commit to a life of self-control.

  • Proverbs 25:28, “Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control.”

2.) Be willing to sacrifice for something greater.

  • Hebrews 12:2, “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross…”

3.) Diligently engage in a long-range plan.

  • Luke 14:28, “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won't you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?”
  • Proverbs 21:5, “The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.”

Baby Steps to a Better Planned Budget:

  • Save $1,000 for emergencies.
  • Do the debt snowball.
