Introduction

Greetings…
Today, we are going to begin a new series of lessons entitled “Fundamentals.”
The fundamentals we are going to be examine are those “first fruits” or “milk doctrine” of God’s word that are needed to be able to move onto solid food (Hebrews 5:12-13; 1 Corinthians 3:2).
Why, would we go back to these “milk teachings,” because as Peter put it we should long for them as they help us to continue to “grow up into salvation.”
1 Peter 2:2 ESV
2 Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation—
In other words, we should, from time to time, be reminded of these “fundamental doctrines” that we may continue to grow in the nourishment of the solid food our foundation or milk doctrine has set.
So, with that in mind let us get into our first lesson of this “fundamentals theme” on Creation.
When one begins to consider how truly great our God is one cannot imagine this greatness without examine where “everything” he created began.
As God would inspire Paul to put it in Romans 1:20
Romans 1:20 ESV
20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
Before we begin, I want to make sure we are clear on a few things.
Man has spent a considerable amount of money striving to disprove there is a God.
The results have led, typically, to the “theory of evolution” and again, typically, “the big bang” as the beginning of everything.
This financial push as led some in the church to even believe in such known as “theistic evolution.”
To be clear there is zero chance evolution harmonizes with God’s word.
I will demonstrate that partly today but if you would be interested in a much more in depth look at this let me know I can get you that information.
Let’s look at our lesson for today.

God Spoke & It Was So

Six Days.

In just six days God created everything by the breath of his mouth.
Not just somethings, but everything!
Genesis 1:1 ESV
1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Psalm 33:6 ESV
6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host.
Psalm 33:8–9 ESV
8 Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him! 9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.
Unfortunately, today science has gone amuck.
People laugh and mock those that teach the truth that evolution is not compatible with the Bible nor actual science.
As said earlier both non-Christians and many Christians laugh at this, which is truly sad.
Like any false doctrine it is easy to see “theistic evolution” doesn’t add simply by the number of “theories” there are striving to try and make it fit.
Gap Theory, Day Age Theory, and so…
The thing is, however, if we let the Bible define itself it tells us the truth concerning this whether or not God created the universe and all that is in it in six 24-hour days.
First, God himself, tells us it was done in six 24-hour days.
When the Israelites came out of captivity, they were instructed to keep the Sabbath or the seventh day.
Exodus 20:10–11 ESV
10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
God clearly says, “in the same way he worked for six days and rested on the seventh so too were the Israelites.”
Second, the Hebrew word for day is “yowm.”
This word is found 2301 times in the Old Testament. This word can mean three basic things.
It can mean the period of time concerning the daylight in contrast to night.
Genesis 8:22 ESV
22 While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”
It can mean 24-hour period.
Genesis 39:10 ESV
10 And as she spoke to Joseph day after day, he would not listen to her, to lie beside her or to be with her.
It can mean an unspecified period of time.
Genesis 2:4 ESV
4 These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.
How can we know this is dealing with a 24 hour period then?
Outside of Genesis chapter one we find the word “yowm” 410 times with a number attached to it.
Every single time, without question or argument, everyone agrees it means 24 hour day.
The words “evening and morning” are found together 38 times outside of Genesis one.
Every single time, without question or argument, everyone agrees it means 24 hour day.
The word yowm plus either evening or morning is found 23 times outside of Genesis one.
Every single time, without question or argument, everyone agrees it means 24 hour day.
Now I’m not a Hebrew scholar but that seems to me like the God has defined what the word “yowm” means when it has a number attached or morning & evening in some order is attached.
In every instance of the word “yowm” used in Genesis one we find this criteria and thus Genesis one cannot fit the false doctrine of theistic evolution.

Summary

Truth be told not even “honest scientist” deny that there is reason and logic behind the universe.
Simpson asked the question once, “Why is the earth so well fitted to life? It seems peculiar, even downright providential, as our ancestors thought it literally was.” 1
Scientist have even started calling earth’s environment the “anthropic phenomenon.”
This simply means “made for man” phenomenon.
So let’s look at the universe that was actually “made for man” because it is truly an…

Amazing Universe

The Days Of Creation.

Day One (Genesis 1:1-5): God created…
The earth or land mass of the world.
The water that covered the entire earth or land mass (Genesis 1:9).
Darkness first than light (this light is not the sun however).
Day Two (Genesis 1:6-8): God created…
The atmosphere or expanse that separated the water in the sky from the surface.
Remember the blanket of water in the sky didn’t allow for rain until the flood in Genesis 6-9.
Day Three (Genesis 1:9-13): God created…
The landscape of this planet “pre-flood” of course.
It appears he pushed the land up (creating land mass above the waters and down creating ocean canons.
This is also when all vegetation was created.
Notice this is “before” the sun even existed and theistic evolution simply has no viable explanation for this.
Day Four (Genesis 1:14-19): God created…
The sun, moon, and stars.
The angels were created some time before the stars as they witness their creation and hear them sing (Job 38:4-7).
God also created gravity.
This allows for the creation of signs, seasons, days, and years.
Day Five (Genesis 1:20-23): God created…
All marine life.
This would include the smallest, like plankton, to the largest of water dwelling animals, like the leviathan.
All birds of the air.
This would not just be feathered animals but all flying animals, from the crow, to the bat, to pterodactyls.
Day Six (Genesis 1:24-31): God created…
Cattle (domestic animals), creeping things (insects and the like), beasts (wild animals), and man.
Adam first. We are not sure how much longer before Eve was created, it could still be in the same day but more likely a different day.

The Awe-Inspiring Creation.

The celestial lights.
Many have tried to count the “lights in the sky.”
Hipparchus, pre 150 AD, counted just less than 3,000.
Ptolemy, same basic time, count 1,058.
Galileo in 1609, with a telescope, stated they were innumerable.
Recently one was asked how many stars are in the sky and his answer was “we don’t know” because the universe seems bigger than we can observe.
He then went on to say “there are roughly 2 trillion know galaxies with an average of 100 million stars in each galaxy.
You can do the math on 2 trillion times 100 million. 2
Genesis 15:5 ESV
5 And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”
The earth.
It has the perfect portion of gases to make breathable are for us. It’s 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, 0.03 % carbon dioxide along water vapor and other small amounts of other gases.
You change the levels of any of these drastically and things become volatile, hence the freaking out of those that claim global warming and the carbon dioxide rise.
However, God has already said he won’t destroy the world “until he returns” so we don’t have to worry about gases rising out of control.
2 Peter 3:10 ESV
10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.
The animals.
We have cheetahs that can run 70 mph.
We have blue whales that are over 100 tones that can be heard 500 miles away.
We have peregrine falcons that can dive for good at 200 mph.
We have giraffes that are 18 feet tall.
There heart is so large, to pump blood up to their head, that it is 2 feet long and weights 25 lbs.
This animals evolution cannot explain because their is a valve that stops the blood pressure from killing the giraffe every time it gets a drink.
The blood pressure is so great it’s skin is several inches thick to contain the blood pressure.
Humans.
There is no doubt man is matter.
Ecclesiastes 3:20 ESV
20 All go to one place. All are from the dust, and to dust all return.
Man is more than matter he is spirit which is living matter.
Genesis 2:7 ESV
7 then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
Man is more than matter and spirit as well, man has soul.
Genesis 1:27 ESV
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Mankind is the only one made of all three body, spirit, and soul.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 ESV
23 Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Summary

God, the creator of the universe, is truly amazing just by simply looking at his creation.

Conclusion

Our God is an awesome God who is worthy of our praise 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Psalm 148:1–7 ESV
1 Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights! 2 Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his hosts! 3 Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars! 4 Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens! 5 Let them praise the name of the Lord! For he commanded and they were created. 6 And he established them forever and ever; he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away. 7 Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all deeps,
Psalm 148:8–14 ESV
8 fire and hail, snow and mist, stormy wind fulfilling his word! 9 Mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars! 10 Beasts and all livestock, creeping things and flying birds! 11 Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth! 12 Young men and maidens together, old men and children! 13 Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his majesty is above earth and heaven. 14 He has raised up a horn for his people, praise for all his saints, for the people of Israel who are near to him. Praise the Lord!
Invitation
Isaiah 59:1–2 ESV
1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; 2 but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.
Philippians 2:6–7 ESV
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
Romans 10:17 ESV
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Hebrews 11:6 ESV
6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Acts 17:30 ESV
30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,
Matthew 10:32 NKJV
32 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.
2 Thessalonians 1:8 ESV
8 in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
1 Corinthians 15:1–4 ESV
1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,
Romans 6:3–5 ESV
3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
1 John 1:7 ESV
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
