2 Timothy 2:15 NLT

The application of the mind with a view to acquiring knowledge, particularly of the Scriptures. God promises his help to those who give themselves to this work.
The study of the works of the Lord
Psalm 111:2 NLT
2 How amazing are the deeds of the Lord! All who delight in him should ponder them.
God’s people are to study in order to gain wisdom
Proverbs 2:1–5 NLT
1 My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. 2 Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. 3 Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. 4 Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. 5 Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God.
Psalm 90:12 NLT
12 Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.
Proverbs 23:23 NLT
23 Get the truth and never sell it; also get wisdom, discipline, and good judgment.
The study of human activity, achievement, and wisdom
Ecclesiastes 1:13–14 NLT
13 I devoted myself to search for understanding and to explore by wisdom everything being done under heaven. I soon discovered that God has dealt a tragic existence to the human race. 14 I observed everything going on under the sun, and really, it is all meaningless—like chasing the wind.
Ecclesiastes 1:17 NLT
17 So I set out to learn everything from wisdom to madness and folly. But I learned firsthand that pursuing all this is like chasing the wind.
Ecclesiastes 2:12 NLT
12 So I decided to compare wisdom with foolishness and madness (for who can do this better than I, the king?).
Ecclesiastes 8:16 NLT
16 In my search for wisdom and in my observation of people’s burdens here on earth, I discovered that there is ceaseless activity, day and night.
Ecclesiastes 9:1 NLT
1 This, too, I carefully explored: Even though the actions of godly and wise people are in God’s hands, no one knows whether God will show them favor.
Ecclesiastes 12:9–11 NLT
9 Keep this in mind: The Teacher was considered wise, and he taught the people everything he knew. He listened carefully to many proverbs, studying and classifying them. 10 The Teacher sought to find just the right words to express truths clearly. 11 The words of the wise are like cattle prods—painful but helpful. Their collected sayings are like a nail-studded stick with which a shepherd drives the sheep.
The study of the word of God is commended

The Bereans studied the Scriptures.

11 And the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul’s message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth.
Some Jews studied the Scriptures without finding Jesus Christ
John 5:39 NLT
