Colossians: Christ is More Than Enough LIVING OUT THE LORDSHIP YOU CONFESS - OUR DAILY PRACTICE TOLERANCE, FORGIVENSS, LOVE & PEACE (COLOSSIANS 3:12-17) BIG IDEA The Key to Living the Christian Life is Learning to Behave in Accordance with the Character of Christ, Based Solely on Your Union with and Your New Reality in Christ. KEY QUESTION What does it mean to our everyday existence that our lives have now been raised with Christ, that we have died with Christ, our lives are now hidden with Christ and that Christ is our life? I. We Must Put On the New Life in Christ 12-17 A. By Continually Putting on the Character of the New Life 12-14 1. Know Who You Are 12a 2. Put on the Character of Christ 12b 3. Be Patient with Each Other Just Like Christ 13a bear with (ἀνέχομαι anĕchŏmai) putting up with/tolerating the things of others that would naturally produce other reactions. 4. Forgive Each Other Just Like Christ 13b, Ro 6:23, Ro 5:6, Co 2:13-14, a. Forgiveness Defined Forgive (χαρίζομαι charizŏmai) choosing to graciously release a person from an obligation or debt for a wrong committed against us. It's a choice. It is an outworking of grace. b. Forgiveness is Humanly Difficult c. Forgiveness Doesn't Necessarily Mean Reconciliation or Forgetting d. Forgive Because You Have Been Forgiven 5. Love Each Other Like Christ 14 Love (ἀγάπη agapē,) choosing to graciously seek the highest good, the well-being of another regardless if it is reciprocated or not. B. By Continually Letting Christ's Peace Reign in Our Hearts 15 1. We Are Members of One Body 15a 2. We Have Been Called to Peace with Each Other 15b C.
