The Visitors You Wouldn't Expect

Mt 2:1-12

Proposition: Christ is the source of salvation for all

Nothing you say could keep today me from speaking about .Magi, Magi

They came from a far, following star, Magi, Magi

At the palace they left Herod in a fury,

told them to fine the baby and return to him in a hurry, Magi, Magi

They brought the child frankensince, mirrh and gold,

even though he was just one or two years old, Magi, Magi

Turn with me to Matthew two,

I’ll read their story to you, let’s learn about the Magi, Magi.


The Internal Revenue Service is looking for 115,478 taxpayers who are due refund checks worth about $110 million after the checks were returned as undeliverable. The refund checks, averaging about $953, can be claimed as soon as taxpayers update their addresses with the IRS. Some taxpayers have more than one check waiting.  “Where’s My Refund”


I.  Who they were

Is this the means by which they found out? Or were they influenced by diaspora Jews (Numbers 24:17)

B.  Divine Gifts?

Gold - Divinity or purity

Incense - Life

Myrrh - death

C.  Gifts of Provision - This would provide what Joseph would need when they left for Egypt.


 

III.  How we relate

A.  Christ allows the Gentiles to be included, we like the women can be included in Christ kingdom.

B.  The Magi responded to what God showed them.

The Bible shows us that we are separated from God without Christ

Today, you have an opportunity greater than that of the magi, because they gave just a few possessions to the Christ child, you have the opportunity to receive a new life which can be lived forever for Christ.
