SCRIPTURE: Psalm 8:1-9 · The Psalm begins and ends with “O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth,” which appears to be the theme of the Psalm. Psalm 8:1, 9 · “How excellent is Your name in all the earth” means the name of God which represents the revealed Person of God, encompassing all of His attributes is excellent or great, stands out, is unmatched in all the earth. Psalm 8:1 · The Psalmist proceeds to say “Who have set Your glory above the heavens!

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 8:1-9 * The Psalm begins and ends with "O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth," which appears to be the theme of the Psalm. Psalm 8:1, 9 * "How excellent is Your name in all the earth" means the name of God which represents the revealed Person of God, encompassing all of His attributes is excellent or great, stands out, is unmatched in all the earth. Psalm 8:1 * The Psalmist proceeds to say "Who have set Your glory above the heavens!" Psalm 8:1 1 O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens! * The Psalm then reveals how this excellent and glorious God deals with His enemy through the weakest and most vulnerable people. Psalm 8:2 * This is why David was able to go against Goliath even though he was just a youth. 1 Samuel 17:33 * David the writer of this Psalm, now considers the works of God in relation to man. Psalm 8:3-5 * God also has given man including you dominion over His creation and put all things in the earth realm under his feet - God has elevated man. Psalm 8:6-8 * David concludes by declaring in spite of his and man's elevated status, "O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth!" Psalm 8:9 * When God assured David that He would give the throne of Israel to seed forever, David asked "Who and I and gives thanks to God. 2 Samuel 7:12, 18, 21-22 * When God sent Moses to bring His people out of Egypt, Moses also said "Who am I?". Exodus 3:11 * Moses was qualified but God did not reference the qualification of Moses.
