Luke 23:26-24:53
Welcome: I’m so glad you came tonight b/c I have some good news for you & if you really understand it, this news can change your life forever!
What is Sin?
Sin is disobeying parents/authority/God
Take the Blame?
Think of a sin SOMEONE ELSE has done.
Brother or Sister breaks Mom’s favorite plate/lies
Someone at School steals ball from playground
Would you be willing to take the punishment?
Tell Mom, “I didn’t break the plate/ground me”
“ Principal, “I didn't steal ball/extra homework/yr”
Talk among yourselves & tell your Crew Leader either yes or no.———(Get answers)
So Many Sins
You were all pretty quick to come up w/sins someone else did. But now I want you to think of a sin that you did yourself. (Give Sad face stickers)
Now that you’ve thought of a sin you did, use your finger to write the sin on the Sad Face. No one will know what you write except God. He knows all/our days/number hairs/our sins. This is between you & Jesus.
(Invite kids to put Sad Faces on the 2 “outside” crosses)
Tonight we’re learning that Jesus give us the power to live forever.
Bible tells us how it’s possible
Look all those sins/1 per person/wk/mth/life
Think about all sins/VBS/church/town
Think about “ sins/country/world/all ever lived
Jesus Never Sinned
Bible tells us all have sinned/except Jesus
Center cross is His/never sinned/did wrong
Put to death worst way/hung o cross/criminal
Other 2 crosses belong to criminals
Jesus accused/arrest’d/tried/sentenced/death
But He never did wrong/sin/crime/pure/right
Religious leaders were afraid/get rid/kill Him
Soldiers beat Him/barely walk/carry cross
Place of skull/nailed hands/feet cross/to die
An Awful Day
(Stand up & stretch our your arms)
Some soldiers made a crown of thorns/Jesus
(Press fingers on forehead/fingernails in head)
(Stretch our your arms)
2 criminals crucified wHim/punished 4 crimes
One made fun of Jesus/save yourself & us 2
Other said/we deserve it/Jesus did no wrong
Remember me when You come 2 kingdom
Jesus said, Today you w/Me in paradise
Jesus Pays the Price
Right on the spot/he believed/Jesus took sin
& promised he would live 4ever w/Jesus
(Prayer Person come & move stickers from the criminal’s cross to center cross)
Look! That guys sins have been forgiven
Jesus took them Himself/same 4 all believe
Jesus 4gives sins/takes punishment Himself
All who believe/ask Jesus 2 4give/live 4ever!
Stuck with Sin
But the other criminal didn’t believe in Jesus
He died w/all his sins/his sins not 4given
He’ll live 4ever in “Lake of Fire”/apart/Jesus
He’ll spend all eternity trying 2 pay 4 his sins
Believe in Jesus
We can believe in Jesus/be 4given/live 4ever
You could take path of unbelief/not 4given/die

Prayer
Dear Lord, Thank You for loving us so much that you were willing to take the punishment for all our sins. If someone tonight wants to follow You or learn more about following You, help them to be brave & talk w/me or their Crew Leader later 2night
Thank You for dying in our place & making a home in heaven for us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Jesus Lives
The best part of the story is the end
Jesus died/but he rose again/lives 4 ever
Jesus gives us the power to live forever
(Materials Manager to take cloth to Crew Leader & Crew Leader wipes hands of each child & says: “[Child’s name], Jesus offers you the sweet hope of heaven.”)
(Last child does same for Crew Leader)
When you smell the fragrance on your hands remember that Jesus wants to wipe away your sins & offers you the sweet hope of heaven.
