Matthew 1:18–25 NKJV
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. 20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” 22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” 24 Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, 25 and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus.

What can we learn about the Savior from Joseph?

1. God is at work in your life.

God’s choosing of Mary and Joseph was not by chance.
Matthew 1:22–23 NKJV
22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
Remember it wasn’t because of some great thing they did.
It was GRACE - God’s favor and choosing.
Ephesians 4:1 NKJV
1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,
This was no accident. This was ALL God’s doing.
If yo are hearing my voice - if you are hearing the gospel today it is no accident.
Romans 3:11 NKJV
11 There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God.
This is a profound truth for you to understand.
If you do not have a relationship with Christ.
If you are unsaved. Having never repented of your sins and recieved salvation by Faith.
You are not listening today, you are not sitting in this building, or watching from home because YOU are SEEKING God.
John 6:44 NKJV
44 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.
Luke 19:10 NKJV
10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
You need to recognize that YOU are not seeking God but that God is seeking YOU.
This is no accident.
God is at work in your life.
He began this work before the foundation of the world.

2. God is providing you a savior.

Joseph learned two vital truths about Jesus that we need to learn as well.

(2) A. Jesus is the incarnate God.

John 20:30 NKJV
30 And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book;
John 1:1 NKJV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:10 NKJV
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.
John 20:30 NKJV
30 And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book;
It is important to understand that Jesus was incarnate God because...

(2) B. Jesus is the Savior.

Matthew 1:21 NKJV
21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
The human race is deeply in need of salvation.
We preach this message often here.
Romans 6:23 NKJV
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ephesians 2:8–9 NKJV
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
James 1:17 NKJV
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
Ephesians 2:5 NKJV
5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

3. God demands a response to His gift.

John 3:17–18 NKJV
17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Philippians 2:10–11 NKJV
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
