Last we we started a brand new message series to finish off the year 2020! Can anyone tell me what we are talking about in here in Threshold this morning? CHRISTMAS IS ABOUT JESUS!

Yes Christmas is about Jesus! God the Father was so good to us that he gave his only son to us!

John 3:16 ESV

16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

And last week we learn that Family is also what Christmas is about. In fact i want everyone to repeat after me FAMILY IS IMPORTANT. Yes it’s still true and i hope you remember it.

This week we continue on this theme of what Christmas is about, today we talking about CHRISTMAS IS ABOUT RECEIVING JESUS. You see Christmas is about getting gifts, but not the lates cool toy or electronic. Today we take about the best gift in human history! So I hope you are ready to lean in (have kids lean it) today as we taking about receiving Jesus during this season we call Christmas!

Lesson/Christmas Is About Jesus

So like i said earlier this morning, we talking about how CHRISTMAS IS ABOUT RECEIVING JESUS.

Now in order for you guys today to understand that Christmas is about receiving Jesus you first need to know that Jesus was a gift from God the Father to mankind.

JESUS IS GOD’S GIFT TO US

John 3:16 ESV

16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Let’s stop and look at the word GAVE what are somethings that we give people? (ask kids to raises their hands to give examples) Now in most of those examples when we give something it would be wrapped up as a present or gift. When you give someone something special usually its in to form of a gift.

When God GAVE his son Jesus this was a gift to mankind!

Jesus is the best gift to us because it might not have been something that we asked for but we definitely needed it. Kind of like when your parents give you socks or underwear as a gift. I for sure didn’t ask for socks, but my mom know what i needed more the what i thought i needed.

GOD KNOW WE NEEDED A SAVIOR, WE DIDN’T, GOD GAVE US JESUS TO SAVE US! JESUS IS THE BEST GIFT EVER!

YOU HAVE TO SAY YES TO GET GOD’S GIFT

Now we get that Jesus is a gift from God, and no matter how much money you spend you will never find a better gift then Jesus Christ. But how do we get this gift? Well the bible helps us this this question.

Romans 10:9 ESV

9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

When we use are month for something other then eating or talking craziness and ask to receive this gift God will give it to you. It’s that easy! Anytime during the day you can ask to receive the gift of Jesus

Illustration/give you a free speaker to the first kid that ask for it.

This speaker for example is a gift that i want bought the other day to give to someone here in class, and if someone was to I don’t know just ask for it i would give it to them.

In order for us to receive the gift of Jesus we must ask for it. This is something you guys while have an opportunity to do in class today. When you ask Jesus into your heart today, you are saying YES to God’s gift, JESUS.

GOD’S GIFT IS FREE TO RECEIVE

Now lets to back to the gift that was just given out this morning. Did you pay for that? No of course not! This was bought before you received it today. The gift of God, Jesus, is free to receive.

SALVATION, FORGIVENESS OF SIN, ETERNAL LIFE IN HEAVEN WITH GOD all that is free for use to receive. That is why God is so good guys, the gift he offers us was bought at a huge price ( someone had to pay for it) it was just offered to us freely.

Closing

This morning we have talked about a gift, Jesus. This Christmas season i want y’all to know that Jesus was born as a gift to us. We can either do two things with it. receive it this morning freely given, or don’t. It’s up to you thing morning but know Jesus is the best gift we has people here on earth could and ever will receive.
