THE WISDOM OF THE SOUL WINNER

Proverbs 11:30

INTRODUCTION:

In this chapter Solomon draws a contrast between the lifestyle and rewards of the righteous and the wicked.

Solomon's message is that it pays to live a righteous life and that the dividends are both immediate and long-term.

It is Solomon's conviction that the wise man will choose the righteous path.  In fact in verse 30 he emphasizes this point by stating the ultimate benefit of the righteous, eternal life.  He also sets forth the ultimate mark of the righteous, to be a soul winner.

It was Solomon’s Father David who had written

(Psalms 142:4)  "I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul."

Solomon calls us to be Soul Winners Because...

1A.       SOUL WINNERS FULFILL GOD'S PLAN

1B.       We Must Comprehend God’s Purpose

(2 Peter 3:9)  "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."

2B.       We Must Comply with God’s Program

(Matthew 28:19‑20)  "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, {20} and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.""

(Acts 1:8)  "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.""

3B.       We Must Complete Our Part (John 15:5-8)

We must Remain

We must Reproduce!

2A.       SOUL WINNERS FOLLOW GOD’S SON

1B.       His Motive

(Luke 19:10)  "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.""

2B.       His Method

(Matthew 9:11‑13)  "When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?" {12} On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. {13} But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.""

3B.       His Message

(John 3:3)  "... "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.""

(John 14:6)  "..., "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

4B.       His Mandate

(Matthew 4:19)  ""Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men.""

Paul Harvey said, "Too many Christians are no longer fishers of men but keepers of the aquarium."

(John 20:21)  "... As the Father has sent me, I am  sending you.""

3A.       SOUL WINNERS FOCUS ON HUMANITY’S NEED

Not Social - Better communities won’t help

Not Economical - Better jobs won’t help

Not Intellectual - Better schools won’t help

IT IS SPIRITUAL!

1B.       Mankind is Hopelessly Lost

(Proverbs 14:12)  "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death."

2B.       Mankind is Helplessly Lost

(Romans 6:23)  "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

(Mark 8:36‑37)  "What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? {37} Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?"

3B.       Mankind is Wholly Lost (Romans 3:9-18)

(Romans 3:23)  "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"

APPLICATION

Only Christ Can Help!!!!

(Romans 5:8)  "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

(Ephesians 2:8‑9)  "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith‑‑and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God‑‑ {9} not by works, so that no one can boast."

God has Called us to Help!!!

Keith Miller, in his book, A Second Touch, tells of a business man who one night turned his life over to Jesus Christ.  After struggling along on his own strength, the next morning he was late for his train. In his hurry, he bumped into a small boy with a puzzle in his hand, scattering the puzzle pieces across the sidewalk. Instead of rushing on, he stopped, stooped down and helped pick up the puzzle while the train moved out of the station.  After he had finished, the little lad looked up into his face and asked, "Mister, are you Jesus?"  Then said the man, "I realized that at least in some small way, Christ truly was in my heart."  What witness of Christ shows through your life?
