The growth of the Kingdom of Heaven is not dependent of humanity but allows us to be used as agents in God's kingdom. At a time in which the Kingdom is so close how should we be found?

Mark 4:26–29 ESV
And he said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground. He sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows; he knows not how. The earth produces by itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. But when the grain is ripe, at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”
Sugar Cane harvest:
only at the right time
only when it is all ready
with care to not spoil the sugar
The Judean province lacked land in which grain could be harvested. Filled with contention… Jesus uses this to explain the Kingdom of Heaven
Kingdom of Heaven rapidly approaching the end but the harvest will not come until it is all ready
The growing kingdom is a continual action that points us toward an end time. It defies our logic and but calls us to exercise faith in what is to come.

The Human Agent

Mark 4:26–27 ESV
And he said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground. He sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows; he knows not how.

Growth of the Kingdom defies our logic
1 Corinthians 3:6 ESV
I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.
the season and action is what God would have
Our work ministry calling is defined by God each one of has a purpose…

Kingdom is at Hand Not Yet Complete

Luke 17:20–21 ESV
Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he answered them, “The kingdom of God is not coming in ways that can be observed, nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.”
Jesus affirms the kingdom is something that defies logic
In the midst of you… declares its already here while not yet complete
Matt 4:17
Jesus reminds us how close the completion is… how it is not some high and lofty idea…

Patience The Kingdom is Growing

Mark 4:28 ESV
The earth produces by itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.
Seems as though we have nothing to do
If the Farmer stood idly the crop dies
James 5:7 ESV
Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains.
The one who sows needs to be patient
The early rain
The latter Rain
day of pentecost we see an early rain
what comes next is greater than the first

The Harvest

Mark 4:29 ESV
But when the grain is ripe, at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”
The harvest of the sugar cane story
Joel 3:13 ESV
Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Go in, tread, for the winepress is full. The vats overflow, for their evil is great.
Speaks of Judgement where evil will be cut down
Speaks to a time in which the Kingdom will be Fulfilled
We want so desperately for the kingdom of heaven to come. We today understand that it means His power and authority is made completely manifest here on earth. We need to know it calls us to repentance and to work on the task at hand to preach the Gospel of Christ which is the Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven.
We are waiting for the latter rain one that empowers the church to move in the supernatural as it moves in the natural. To be so dependent on God.
Like the church in Acts we should be found in prayer… intentionally spreading the gospel. The Kingdom of Heaven is here its completion is on coming we will soon see all of this come to pass.
