Isaiah 9:1–7 ESV
1 But there will be no gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the latter time he has made glorious the way of the sea, the land beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations. 2 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone. 3 You have multiplied the nation; you have increased its joy; they rejoice before you as with joy at the harvest, as they are glad when they divide the spoil. 4 For the yoke of his burden, and the staff for his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, you have broken as on the day of Midian. 5 For every boot of the tramping warrior in battle tumult and every garment rolled in blood will be burned as fuel for the fire. 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

Mighty God

Strong, vigorous, warrior, fit for war. The God of Strength and Power, The Lord God Of Hosts. The Self Existent Divine Person of All Power and Authority. This is the Son that has been born and has the weight of governing upon His shoulders.
Psalm 24:8 ESV
8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle!
Psalm 45:3–4 ESV
3 Gird your sword on your thigh, O mighty one, in your splendor and majesty! 4 In your majesty ride out victoriously for the cause of truth and meekness and righteousness; let your right hand teach you awesome deeds!
Zephaniah 3:17 ESV
17 The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

El Gibbor- Mighty God

What is the question we all ask, when we it comes to a person’s strength? What do we want to know about a strongman?
What are we hoping to find out about virtually any athlete?
HOW STRONG? HOW MIGHTY? HOW POWERFUL IS HE?

Star Breathing Strength

Psalm 33:6 ESV
6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host.
Genesis 1:6–7 ESV
6 And God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” 7 And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so.
Did you ever stop to think that God made the plants before he made the sun, moon and stars. Light existed before the Heavenly bodies did and the plants were too!
Job 38:22–33 ESV
22 “Have you entered the storehouses of the snow, or have you seen the storehouses of the hail, 23 which I have reserved for the time of trouble, for the day of battle and war? 24 What is the way to the place where the light is distributed, or where the east wind is scattered upon the earth? 25 “Who has cleft a channel for the torrents of rain and a way for the thunderbolt, 26 to bring rain on a land where no man is, on the desert in which there is no man, 27 to satisfy the waste and desolate land, and to make the ground sprout with grass? 28 “Has the rain a father, or who has begotten the drops of dew? 29 From whose womb did the ice come forth, and who has given birth to the frost of heaven? 30 The waters become hard like stone, and the face of the deep is frozen. 31 “Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades or loose the cords of Orion? 32 Can you lead forth the Mazzaroth in their season, or can you guide the Bear with its children? 33 Do you know the ordinances of the heavens? Can you establish their rule on the earth?
John 1:1–3 ESV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
This Son, who was born in a manger is the Mighty God.
IT is important for us to recognize this incredible truth, in order for our worship to be even close to what it ought to be.

I Sing the Mighty Power of God

I sing the mighty pow’r of God, that made the mountains rise, That spread the flowing seas abroad, and built the lofty skies. I sing the wisdom that ordained the sun to rule the day; The moon shines full at His command, and all the stars obey.
I sing the goodness of the Lord, who filled the earth with food, Who formed the creatures through the Word, and then pronounced them good. Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed, where’er I turn my eye, If I survey the ground I tread, or gaze upon the sky. There’s not a plant or flow’r below, but makes Thy glories known, And clouds arise, and tempests blow, by order from Thy throne; While all that borrows life from Thee is ever in Thy care; And everywhere that we can be, Thou, God, art present there.

How Mighty is the Mighty God who came in a manger?

This mighty God has life giving, creative power. He also has the power to crush His enemies. To judge and destroy those who trespass against Him.

Serpent Slaying

Genesis 3:15 ESV
15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”
Revelation 20:10 ESV
10 and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

NO TRESPASSING!

Satan was able to lure Adam and Eve to trespass against God.
We, all being children of Adam, are also trespassers.
Some of us, like to compare our trespassing behavior against others, who seem to be worse. They don’t just cross over the border without permission, they decide to loot, steal and destroy. We may only tell a “little white lie”, while others cheat and deceive and try to steal an election. (at least we have to admit there is some compelling evidence to that affect).
James 2:10 ESV
10 For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it.
Adam and Eve were guilty after just one bite!

Sin Killing STRONG!

John 3:18 ESV
18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
Deuteronomy 32:35 ESV
35 Vengeance is mine, and recompense, for the time when their foot shall slip; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and their doom comes swiftly.’
Sinners in the Hands of An Angry God- Jonathan Edwards
God is strong enough to uphold the feet of all the sinners alive and breathing. To uphold their feet on the slippery footing on which they stand.
Some seem to be just slowly plodding along toward the gates of hell. Others seem to be in a free fall plunging toward an eternal death.
Romans 6:23 ESV
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God alone has the power to uphold our footing or to remove the ground beneath our feet.
Hebrews 9:27 ESV
27 And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,
Matthew 16:27 ESV
27 For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done.

Death Defeating, Life Giving, Resurrecting Mighty God

Those who believe in Christ the son of God, by His amazing grace are free from the law of sin and the LAW OF DEATH!
John 3:16–18 ESV
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
Colossians 2:13 ESV
13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,
Romans 8:9–11 ESV
9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. 10 But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
Hebrews 2:14 ESV
14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,

How Mighty is the Mighty God who came in a manger?

1 Corinthians 15:45 ESV
45 Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

A Mighty Fortress Is Our God

1 A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing; our helper he, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing. For still our ancient foe does seek to work us woe; his craft and power are great, and armed with cruel hate, on earth is not his equal.
2 Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing, were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God's own choosing. You ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is he; Lord Sabaoth his name, from age to age the same; and he must win the battle.
3 And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us, we will not fear, for God has willed his truth to triumph through us. The prince of darkness grim, we tremble not for him; his rage we can endure, for lo! his doom is sure; one little word shall fell him.
4 That Word above all earthly powers no thanks to them abideth; the Spirit and the gifts are ours through him who with us sideth. Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also; the body they may kill: God's truth abideth still; his kingdom is forever!
Communion- A mandated celebration of remembrance, which Christ instituted with his first disciples. A remembrance of His sacrifice in which He offered His body to be broken and His blood to be spilled out, in order that we can have the forgiveness of our sins, according to the will of God the Father.
