c. Images of the church’s mission: Mga larawan ng misyon ng simbahan

Mt 5:13–16; Jn 15:5–8
Matthew 5:13–16 KJV 1900
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

i. A fruitful plant in a fruitless world: Isang mabungang halaman sa walang bunga na mundo:

Mt 7:18–19; Ro 7:4; Eph 5:9–10; Php 1:11; Col 1:6; Col 1:10; Jas 3:17
Ephesians 5:9–10 KJV 1900
(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

ii. Salt in an insipid world: Asin sa isang walang kabuluhan na mundo:

Mk 9:50; Lk 14:34–35
Luke 14:34–35 KJV 1900
Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

iii. Light in a dark world: Banayad sa isang madilim na mundo:

Ro 13:12–14; Eph 5:8; Php 2:15; 1 Th 5:5–6
1 Thessalonians 5:5–6 KJV 1900
Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

3. The growth of the church: Ang paglaki ng simbahan

a. Numerical growth among the first Christians: Bilang ng paglaki sa mga unang Kristiyano

Acts 11:21 KJV 1900
And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.
See also Ac 2:41; Ac 2:47; Ac 4:4; Ac 5:14; Ac 6:1; Ac 6:7; Ac 9:31; Ac 9:42; Ac 11:24; Ac 12:24; Ac 13:49; Ac 16:5; Ac 17:4; Ac 18:8; Ac 19:20

b. The church is to grow to maturity: Ang iglesya ay dapat lumago sa pagkahinog

Ephesians 4:12–13 KJV 1900
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
See also Php 1:6; Php 3:13–15; 2 Th 1:3

c. Aspects of growth: Mga aspeto ng paglaki

i. Growth in character: Paglago ng character:

2 Co 9:10; 1 Th 3:12
1 Thessalonians 3:12 KJV 1900
And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:

ii. Growth into Christ: Paglago kay Kristo:

Eph 4:15; Col 1:10; 2 Pe 3:18
Heb 6:1 growth in understanding: paglago ng pag-unawa
Hebrews 6:1 KJV 1900
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

d. Prayers for the growth of the church: Panalangin para sa paglago ng simbahan

Ephesians 3:14–19 KJV 1900
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
