Text- 1 John 4:7-12
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

INTRODUCTION
TODAY I WANT TO TALK TO FROM THE MESSAGE
TITLE Love
- God’s Promise of Love or The Promise of God’s
A. WHAT DOES THIS TEXT SAY TO ME?
AS I SAT IN MY STUDY TO PREPARE THIS WEEKS MESSAGE- I ADMIT IT WAS STRUGGLE FOR ME.
WE TALK ABOUT LOVE ALL THE TIME. WE SAY WE LOVE THIS, THAT &THE OTHER
BUT DO WE REALLY UNDERSTAND THE DEPTH AND DYNAMIC’S OF GOD’S LOVE.
I WRESTLED WITH -
A. How much do I love?
B. Who do I love?
C. Why do I love?
D. Do I love others?
E. Do I love myself
This is 2nd advent week AND THE THEME FOR THIS WEEK IS LOVE.
IN MY STUDY I WAS LED TO TWO PASSAGES, GENESIS 15 & 1 JOHN 4
I WANTED TO KNOW WHEN GOD FIRST PROMISED TO LOVE US AND WHAT LOVE MEANS TO GOD.
FIRST IN Genesis 15
The Lord visited Abraham in vision, “Do not be afraid, Abram.
I am your shield, s
your very great reward. t”
2 But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord, what can you give me since I remain childless
He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”
6 Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness
15 God also said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah. 16 I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.”
God made Abraham a promise. He promised to go with him and be with him God love for was going to be with Abraham and his decendants forever.
GOD promise to give him and us the Gift of Eternal love- that gifts was to come in the form of our LORD AND SAVIOR -JESUS CHRIST.
B. WHAT DOES THE TEXT SAY TO THE NEEDS OF The people IN OUR TIMES?
SECOND - Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.
All things begin in love, flow from love, are perfected through love, and return to love. The centrality of love is a theme that pervades all of 1 John, coming to its highest point of power and simplicity in the little phrase “God is love.”
GOD WAS CAREFUL WHEN HE SENT JESUS
I THINK HE WANTED US TO THE FULLNESS OR HOW COMPLETE HIS LOVE FOR US REALLY IS.
BUT US TO - THE OFFSPRINGS OF FAITH
WE ARE A PART OF THE SAME OFFSPRING GOD SPOKE ABOUT.
LET US READ THE PASSAGES FROM 1 JOHN 4.7-15 AGAIN.
C. What is bad news in the text-
VERESE 8. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. MANY OF US STRUGGLE WITH LOVE. SOME PEOPLE WITHDRAW FOM LOVING OTHERS ALL TOGETHER.
THIS MEANS EVERYONE DOES NOT KNOW GOD. THEY HAVE NEVER STOP TO TAST AND SEE HIS REAL GOODNESS.
D. What is the bad news in our times?
GOD LPOVE IS not JUST ABOUT power or law or prosperity, but self-sacrificing love that is the heart of the truth about God.
F. What is good news in the text-
God has defined God, and God’s chosen self-definition is love. We do not have to guess what God is like. We simply have to look at what God has done. We cannot see God, John tells us, but we can see what God has done in Jesus Christ.
E What is the Good news in our times?
WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN A GIFT AND A POWER THAT IS GREATER THAN ALL THING IN CREATION WHEN WE USE IT CORRECTLY
G RELEVANT QUESTION-
IN BIBLE STUDY THIS WEEK SEVERAL QUESTIONS WERE RAISED BUT HE MAIN QUESTION WAS WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT THE GOD’S LOVE, HOW DOES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL?
ANSWERS- WARM AND FUZY
a. Whole, complete, safe, secure, fulfilled, overjoyed, peace, cared for, caring, wise, observant, knowledgeable, humble, kind, sweet, happy, perfect, holy, pure, strong, weak, patient, truthful, glorified, loving = loved
AMAZED!
RQ2- WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT THE GOD’S LOVE, HOW DOES GOD MAKE YOU FEEL?
H. D. Behavioral Purpose STATEMENT- HOW WE ANSWER THE QESTION OF HOW GOD MAKES US FEEL IS USALLY HOW WE MAKE OTHERS FEEL.
JIMMY HENDRICK SAID, “ WHEN THE POWER OF LOVE OVERCOMES THE LOVE OF POWER WE WILL HAVE PEACE.
I PROPOSE TO EXPERIENTIALLY -I WANT TO PROPOSE WAYS WE CAN DEVELOP WAYS BE THAT WILL RELEASE THE POWER OF LOVE WITHIN.
TOTHE END THAT HEARERS WILL
I. WHAT IS THE STRATEGY FOR CELEBRATION
IN CLOSING
a. WHAT SHALL WE CELEBRATE?
1) EXMAINE HOW MUCH GOD LOVE YOU. LOOK THRUGHOUT THE SCRIPTURE AND ANALYZE THEM AGAINST YOUR PAST, ASKING WAS GOD THERE FOR YOU. GAIN WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING ANBOUT YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR GOD.
2) BEGIN TO THINGS THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIFE OF SOMEONE ELSE – KEEPING IN THE BACK OF YOU MIND – GOD IS LOVE, AND GOD HAS LOVED ME IN MY LIFE FIRST-EVEN WHEN I DID NOT KNOW OR UNDERSTAND HIM.
3) PRAY FOR A MORE CARING SPIRIT. ASK GOD HOW TO BE A MORE LOVING, CARING PERSON. I DID NOT SAY BE A DOORMAT- I SAID BE MORE- GOD TEACH ME TO USE MY POWER OF LOVE TO SPREAD YOUR GOODNESS IN A LAND THAT IS GROWONG COLDER EVERYDAY.
