Called to Make a Difference

1 Thessalonians 1:2–4 KJV 1900
2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; 3 Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father; 4 Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.
2 Thessalonians 1:3–5 KJV 1900
3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth; 4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure: 5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
Philippians 1:9–10 KJV 1900
9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; 10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;
Galatians 5:6 KJV 1900
6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Faith is Connected to Our Relationship to Christ

1 John 4:7–8 KJV 1900
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
Being in Christ
++is not measured by outside activity
++is not minimized by lack of activity
The old covenant made activity the litmus test of a relationship with God.
At the foundation was

If you will, you will
How you respond to
++my words, my commands

++the pursuit of knowledge
Then you will
++understand the fear of the Lord
++find the knowledge of God
This was the measure of Righteousness.

Hebrews 10:1 KJV 1900

It was a fading glory

Haggai 2:3 KJV 1900
3 Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? And how do ye see it now? Is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?

2 Corinthians 4:7 KJV 1900
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
