“Rebuilding” - Ezra/Nehemiah

Courage in Faith

Nehemiah’s response to his situation was to pray (1:4).

There was opposition to the rebuilding of Jerusalem (4:1-3, 4:8, 6:1-2, 9).

Nehemiah consistently responded in faith (4:9, 14, 6:9, 14).

The opposition realized they had gone up against God and lost (6:16).

Faith in God’s Word

Nehemiah/Ezra bring God’s Word the people (8:1-3).

In trusting God, it brings us to desire His Word (1 Peter 2:2).

In rebuilding, they make a commitment to act on God’s Word.

The emphasis here keeps them from going down the same road they

did before.

Faith in the Big Picture

The older people were sad at the size of the temple.

(Ezra 3:12-13, Haggai 2:3)

The size of this temple was irrelevant to what God was doing.

God promised greater glory and peace to come (Haggai 2:4-9).

This was a part in the bigger story of the coming of Jesus Christ.
