What God Does To Rescue Me

Romans 7:18-19, 24-25A and Romans 8:1-4

18I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing... 24What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? 25Thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! Romans 7:18-19 and 24-25A

Through Our Lord Jesus Christ:

·         God Rescues Me From My [RIGHTEOUS AND JUST CONDEMNATION] !

1You were dead through the trespasses and sins 2in which you once lived, following the course of this world, following the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work among those who are disobedient. 3All of us once lived among them in the passions of our flesh, following the desires of flesh and senses, and we were by nature children of wrath, like everyone else. Ephesians 2:1-3 (nrsv)

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2Because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death Romans 8:1-2

·         God Rescues Me From The [WEAKNESS OF MY FLESHLY SINFUL NATURE)

11For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; 12as far as the east is from the west, so far he removes our transgressions from us. 13As a father has compassion for his children, so the Lord has compassion for those who fear him. 14For he knows how we were made; he remembers that we are dust. Psalm 103:11-14

For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man… Romans 8:3

·         God Rescues Me From The [IMPOSSIBLE STANDARDS OF PERFECTION]

10For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. 11For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker. James 2:10-11

4In order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:4

What Do I Do To Live According To the Spirit

19For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. 20I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!” Galatians 2:19-21
