John 1:1–5 NIV (Anglicised, 2011)
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

For me this is one of those passages which bring me much life.
I’ve never been very good at foreign languages, and I was told that I’d have to study New Testament Greek if I was to study my particular course in Cambrigde.

And I was ready to be bored out of my skull. Yeah, considering I’m usually up for trying new things, this was one thing I knew I would fail. Never go into a situation like that. Of course, this was reading the Bible in Greek. Mike Thompson, our lecturer opened his copy of Greek New Testament and read these words.
